    Vault Talks with Derek Eddings

In this episode of Vault Talks, JT sits down with Derek Eddings - former Thomas More basketball rival turned close friend, P&G employee, and leader of Run With Christ Cincinnati. It's a different kind of conversation than usual, and one of the most honest ones yet. Derek opens up about the year and a half that changed everything: his mom sick, his brother depressed, his own battles with anxiety and addiction, and a family completely out of options. What started with six people in his living room became a run club of 120 people in 18-degree weather, and then a movement. Currently spanning across over 90 cities, what Derek thought may be another run club, has turned out to be so much more. But as Derek says, it's not really about the running. Half the people walk. It's about what happens when you stop trying to carry it alone. We get into faith, fitness as worship, the five F's he runs his life by, why pride nearly cost him everything, and the advice that fixed his calendar. JT also shares his own story for the first time - the wave in the ocean that saved his mom's life. Whether you're deep in your faith or just curious, this one's worth your time. Follow Derek on Instagram. Here is the running club's instagram link as well - Run With Christ. Takeaways: Sometimes God's plans make no sense at the moment, but he never gives us a battle we can't handleHis plans do not always make sense, often times we must break down before we are rebuilt strongerSurround yourself with people who lift you up, not tear you downCorrelation between fitness and faith. Our bodies are a temple, put yourself through hard thingsBake in time to your calendar where you have no obligations. Derek calls this margin time. It will help you put out fires and have some time to yourself Timestamps: (00:00) Intro, west side rivals turned close friends (04:35) From a bar to leading a ministry in three months (13:34) Fitness as an act of worship, not vanity (16:24) Time management: the five F's and non-negotiables (21:05) Religion vs. relationship, the best friend analogy (27:33) Pride: the battle that came with the platform (35:00) JT's story: the wave in the ocean that saved his mom (37:37) How to get involved with Run With Christ (42:20) Closing prayer
