Veterans SITREP, a production of WHFC Radio, provides a platform to connect veterans, their families, friends and support networks to address veterans’ issues and provide information about resources that will help veterans in their lives. Each week, Colonel Bill Montgomery (U.S. Army, Retired) will interview featured guests involved in the veteran community, plus health tips and military discounts available in Harford County, Maryland.

    Wheelchairs For Warriors: Crystal Laramore

    Joining me today on Veterans SITREP, is Crystal Lee Laramore, the Executive Director of Wheelchairs for Warriors and a fierce advocate for those who have sacrificed the most. Under her leadership, the organization has become a national force for mobility justice — stepping in where traditional systems fall short and ensuring that heroes receive equipment tailored to their bodies, their injuries, and their lives. Wheelchairs for Warriors build highly customized, engineered-for-survival mobility solutions for veterans and first responders whose injuries demand far more than a standard-issue chair.     Maryland VA Health Care System: Dr. Siobhan Kirksey, Women Veterans Program

Kirksey, Women Veterans Program Manager, VA Maryland Health Care System.   The VA Maryland Health Care System recognizes that building a family is an important part of life for many Veterans.  Fertility challenges can affect both women and men, and they can be deeply personal, emotional, and sometimes overwhelming. The Fertility Services program is designed to ensure Veterans have access to coordinated, compassionate, and evidence-based reproductive care.  They provide comprehensive evaluation, consultation, and care coordination whether services are delivered within the VA or through trusted community reproductive specialists.  Let’s explore the Fertility Services Program and the resources available to veterans and providers.

    Aberdeen Proving Ground Community Spouses Club

    Joining me today on Veterans SITREP are board members from the Aberdeen Proving Ground Community Spouses Club, Kelly Foster, first vice president and Elizabeth Perez Garcia, secretary.  The Club provides a support system for members by developing leadership, creating a sense of unity within the Aberdeen Proving Ground community, broadening the lives of its members, and promoting the relationship between the military and surrounding civilian communities. The Spouses Club sponsors various educational, charitable, social, recreational, and other activities for the community.  We’re going to explore how the Community Spouses Clubs are more than social groups — but how they are one of the quiet engines that keep military installations connected, supported, and thriving.

    Keith Taylor, President of the Sparrows Point North Point Historical Society

    Joining me today on Veterans SITREP is Keith Taylor, President of the Sparrows Point North Point Historical Society who has a unique collaboration story with the Wells McComas VFW Post 2678.  Together, these organizations have collaborated to create the Veterans Memorial Park and Gateway into Edgemere, a space designed to honor service, preserve local history, and welcome residents and visitors with a message of gratitude.   This project isn’t about bricks, landscaping, or monuments — it’s about community identity. It’s about recognizing the generations of men and women from the Sparrows Point, North Point, and Edgemere areas who stepped forward to serve. And it’s about ensuring their stories remain visible, respected, and understood.  Today, we’ll explore how this collaboration came to life, the history it preserves, the veterans it honors, and the impact it’s already having on the community.
