Dead or Alive, VHQuest is back for the first episode of 2021! We’re starting off the new year with a stellar interview with local Spokane collector Chris Rosales. Chris shares his origins, the tapes that have stuck with him since childhood, and his strategy to pass down his passion to his two kids.
Also, we have a special treat for you listeners. While recording this episode Chris got a package in the mail with a bunch of freshly ordered tapes! For the first time on VHQuest we got to do a live unboxing of some sick scores.
And you do not want to miss his 100 year old lucky medallion. It’s all this month’s episode of VHQuest!
You can see all of Chris’s tapes on the VHQuest Instagram (@Vhquestpod).

Season Two of Your Daily Cathartic Scream is back now with new episodes, from Partyfish Media 🎉🐟
It's another episode of VHQuest! This month we sit down with Andrew Peru, a jack of all trades and VHS connoisseur from Portland, OR. We chat about his early induction into horror and sci-fi, while hiding it from his parents. What movie scared the crap out of you when you were young?
Andrew spills what it's like to be a VHS collector in the PNW and his different tastes for tapes. With warm memories of video stores, slip covers, and cool fonts, Andrew takes us into his mylar wrapped world. And you won't want to miss his Golden Tape(s). It's all this month on VHQuest!
If you or anybody you know would like to donate to help Shanda Gore annihilate brain cancer, and help her through these difficult times, we implore you to visit her GoFundMe page. Every bit helps: https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-shanda-annihilate-brain-cancer
VHS Traders (Pt. 2)
We've got a packed house this month for Part 2 of our interview with the cousins over at VHS Traders! And the return of the one and only Mike Graves!
In the midst of a Halloween like never before, and the most important election in our lifetimes, the quest still continues! The boys get in the spirit of the season with strange Official White House VHS tapes featuring Ronald Regan, and the 1995 classic Casper. And are you dedicated to only Halloween tapes or do you bit the bullet and pull up Netflix for some of the classics? Be honest, it's so easy...
Also! The boys talk about their youtube show and found footage projects, as well as our dream jobs after COVID and a map of the US to track their VHS mail deliveries. And we ask, which movie monster would you choose to bring about the mutually assured destruction of American politics? It's all this month on VHQuest!
VHS Traders (Pt. 1)
Armageddon or Deep Impact? LED or Plasma? To be or not to be? These are the pressing questions we ask the boys of VHS Traders, the tape slinging cousins helping VHS make it’s comeback. They share their thoughts on the return of rental stores, the best tv screens, having more tapes than movies on Netflix, and how they keep questing in these difficult times. Plus, do spoiler alerts even matter anymore? Who doesn’t know Bruce Willis was dead the whole time? And have you ever popped in a tape right during a titty scene? It’s all this month on VHQuest!

love the vibe
Just found the show through Dead Beat Film Society! I’m excited to attend some swaps when I return to the pnw. The jewel of my small collection is Paul Morrissey’s Flesh, Trash, Heat box set.
Tight, niche, and fascinating
Ben and Mike’s podcast offers unique interviews surrounding and pertaining to the hyper specific VHS sub-culture and community. The interviews are focused and lean. Like watching a great documentary, VHQuest explores nostalgia and our universal relationship to comfort and collection. Fascinating and highly recommended!
Been looking for a podcast like this for years. Can’t wait for the next episode!
