    Kingdom Hearts IV News at D23, More on Marvel's Wolverine # 505

    D23 proved to be more than just a place to announce the next slate of Marvel, Star Wars, and Disney things, it also was a coming out party for Kingdom Hearts IV and this has Sean super excited of course. Especially with what was shown in the extended trailer. Will Marc care about any of it at all? The guys also discuss some of the major announcements from D23 as well. There's also some other news such as more confirmation that the $100 special edition of Grand Theft Auto VI is the one being purchased the most on both consoles.     Grand Theft Auto VI on Netflix, Best Games of 2026 So Far (Summer Edition) # 504

    As gaming gears up for another showcase season towards the end of August, Netflix has opened up the bag to get an extended look at Grand Theft Auto VI on August 27, and with it hitting YouTube some hours later, along with social media and all the sites. Final Fantasy VII Revelation will also get its time on the Geoff Keighley Gamescom Opening Night Live, there are reports that Kingdom Hearts IV also will get some time to shine at some point too. Although it is a bit delayed, we are also doing as a main topic the Best Games of 2026 So Far the Summer check-in.     Beasts of Reincarnation Impressions, HALO Studios Already Has Layoffs # 503

    Another week in video games, and it feels like more of the same with XBOX introducing more backwards compatibility, this time with XBOX 360 being next in line. Along with the possibility of their own version of the platinum trophy after so many years of requests. Asha Sharma also sets out a plan of how XBOX will get back to where it needs to be by 2027 to 2028, but perhaps the most frightening thing is that hot off the heels of the release of HALO: Campaign Evolved's release, there are already layoffs at HALO Studios as the game is doing "fine" but not what you'd expect a major first-party to do for XBOX. Finally, someone from Sony responds to the controversy of deciding to end disc production in 2028 and the physical media enjoyers won't be happy with the Sony CFO's statement essentially stating that they have no other choice and they now have to figure out how to give their best with digital media as the focus. Does Marc still believe Sony will change course? Plus, Sean's been playing Beasts of Reincarnation; Dave Batista may be Kratos in the God of War TV Series, EA completes its 55 Billion sale to the Saudi PIF, Capcom reports 93% of its sales are digital.     HALO Campaign Evolved Impressions, XBOX Begins PC Back Compat # 502

    The second of the major releases is out now everywhere on PC, XBOX, and yes, even PlayStation 5, as HALO Campaign Evolved has come out of its early access period, and both Sean and Marc have played it, so they have thoughts on whether it delivers and if this really is the definitive way to play the first HALO game. Also, XBOX has begun its backwards compatibility program to PC beginning with four original XBOX games, with promises of more to come, and it may even possibly extend to third-party games as well. There's even the promise of achievements being added to the games as well. Could we see PlayStation doing anything similar to this at all? And will this eventually extend to a large portion of the library? Plus, a blackout is being organized to continue the rebellion against PlayStation for stopping the production of physical discs in 2028. Could this be the thing that gets their attention?     Bethesda Outlines the Franchise Plan, More Devs Hate XBOX Game Pass # 501

    Many will see it as a deflection from the bigger problem, and perhaps it is for XBOX, but the reality is, Bethesda essentially confirmed their major franchise slate for the foreseeable future. Starfield is still getting content, and Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas remasters are real; The Obsidian Fallout game is also confirmed, Fallout 5 is officially in pre-production but is still coming after Elder Scrolls VI. Does this really do anything for Sean and Marc with all these games coming at some point? Also, there's further evidence at least from the United States side of why Sony has gone this NO DISC route, and even Gamestop calls them irrelevant. Do we still believe this could be turned back?     Fallout From XBOX Layoffs, A New Fallout Game in Development # 500

    A week after the major XBOX layoffs we've had some fallout with parts of Bethesda threatening to strike, and finding out that Id software is actually still making a new DOOM game despite all of the dismissals at the studio. There's also a new Fallout game in development from Obsidian and yes, they are still making Avowed 2 for the time being too. So there's some good and bad coming from what's been a torrid few weeks for XBOX. PlayStation is also having to deal with its own fallout from their major decision to stop making discs, with petition's to prevent it from happening getting louder and PC players taking unfortunate matters into their own hands, none of this may deter Sony from turning back according to a certain Dr. Serkan Toto.     Xbox Layoffs (1,600 Now, 1,600 Later) Divests 4 Studios, Is This the End for Physical Media # 499

    The big moment has finally happened: XBOX announced its huge restructure on Monday, laying off 1,600 employees effective immediately and another 1,600 throughout fiscal year 2027. They've also divested of four studios and already started the process to possibly do the same with Arkane Studios as well. Layoffs are happening all across their studios; IPs are going with the divested studios. XBOX CEO Asha Sharma even admitted that the XBOX business is not doing well, and that's part of this too. Sean and Marc discuss it all, and will this truly RESET XBOX? Also, PlayStation is not without its bad decisions this week, as they not only are closing the PlayStation 3 and PS Vita online store, but they announced that, as of 2028, there will be NO MORE Physical Disc games made. Essentially ripping a hole into the physical vs. digital debate once and for all. But will this decision actually stick?     The XBOX Bad News Continues, Grand Theft Auto VI is $80 # 498

    With the rumors and reports continuing to swirl regarding the bloodletting that is due to ensue next week from Xbox, even more information has been released this week, narrowing down the studios that could be affected even further. Not only that, but now XBOX is cutting funding to projects and even Xbox Game Pass third-party deals, plus they even raised console prices AGAIN. As XBOX evaluates everything, actual employees are already reporting they are looking for work. Bad news all around for the green brand. Sony also had its share of bad news with the major Bungie layoffs and the removal of purchased digital content due to licensing agreements, and more rumors that the PlayStation 6 will be rather expensive, and apparently they still want live service stuff too. Plus, Grand Theft Auto costs $80, and the special edition is $100. Persona is getting a live-action show from Netflix, NBC Universal may get into gaming, Unreal Engine 6 is really going heavy on A.I. and more.
