    Ep. 109 You should bring a family member to your fitting. (Here's why)

    When you're coming in to get fitted for your hearing aid the first time it is always best to bring someone close to you. It could be a family member, spouse or even a friend. The reason why is when you are getting fitted there is going to be a lot of information thrown at you that you might not remember initially.    We are always here to answer any questions you may have after the fitting but we recommend a second person at the appointment that also can help you remember some crucial information.     Ep.106 Can you inherit hearing loss from your family?

    The big question I get asked is can I inherit hearing loss from my family? In other words, is hearing loss Genetic? The short answer is YES. The National Institute of Health says that 1 out of every 1,000 babies inherits their parents hearing loss. But not all is lost, the best thing to do is to try and catch the hearing loss early.     Here is what I learned from 1000's of hearing tests     In doing 1000's of hearing exams one thing you do realize is your hearing will never recover 100% unfortunately. However, the good news is with new technology coming out every year that gap is always coming to a close. Even a 20-50% improvement can impact your quality of life.
