The role of a demo in 2024, with guest Kay Bess

The role of a demo in 2024, with guest Kay Bess

This episode was born from a desire to answer a collection of questions from the VO community about demos, demo producers, and the role of a demo in 2024. To get a better understanding, AB, NJ and JT interviewed more than 30 demo producers, asking the same questions of each, to learn about what they do and how they do it. We also surveyed agents, both national and regional, to find out how they feel about demos and the role they play in selecting talent for their rosters. Kay Bess lends her decades of industry experience to the conversation, making it more comprehensive and thorough.

Indispensable pod for Voice artists at every level.

I waited a while to write a review, because I wanted to be sure I had listened to enough episodes. Now, nearly a year into longing for the next episode, I feel comfortable sharing that this is the most informative voice over podcast I have heard. There are at least 12 different VO pods on my playlist, and each one is deeply valuable, but the Besties just keep bringing it. The value-add surprises me each time, and I have listened to many episodes twice in order to be able to write down the jewels I may have missed the first time. Practicable, actionable advice offered in the warmest, and most intelligent ways. Perhaps most inspiring is the community these gifted women have built where each of us feels a sense of belonging. We feel we belong to the besties, to each other, and to ourselves, to become our best selves. As busy as these amazing women are, they somehow make us feel individually important while growing us as a collective. Grab your notepad, join their groups, and tune in to the most informative and entertaining hour out there.
