    94. From the Front Lines: A Conversation with ORR’s Country Director

In this episode, Peter, Orphan Relief and Rescue’s Country Director in West Africa, shares an encouraging look at the transformation taking place in the communities ORR serves. Peter reflects on the return of children who had been trafficked into slavery and the remarkable changes happening as families and community leaders begin to see children differently. As ORR combines practical intervention with the message of the Gospel, Peter is witnessing deeply rooted mindsets shift, children receive greater protection and care, and entire communities begin to change. He shares the story of one village that was once marked by fear, but is now experiencing new hope, development, and a growing church. Relationships with village chiefs, police, and government leaders have also strengthened, opening doors for greater collaboration and lasting change. Peter also recounts the heartbreaking story of a young boy who was branded with a hot iron, a powerful reminder of the abuse some children have endured and why ORR continues to advocate for both protection and justice. Through it all, Peter points to the Gospel as the foundation for lasting transformation. His vision is not simply to rescue children from trafficking, but to see communities changed from within—with thriving churches established in villages and local leaders equipped to protect and value their children for generations to come.
