Voices in the Work is designed to share new ideas and fresh perspectives with health professionals and other members of the workforce about substance use disorder (SUD) prevention, treatment, and recovery. Season 1 highlights innovative and exemplary approaches to preparing future health professionals to address SUD through simulation-based training, interprofessional education, case-based learning, collaborative educational development, and the expansion of clinical training experiences.

    Training the Team: Simulation in SUD Education

    Simulation has become a powerful tool for helping educators teach the communication, teamwork, and clinical decision-making skills needed for SUD care.  This episode examines how interprofessional simulation is designed and implemented to support clinical reasoning, communication, and teamwork.     Operation Naloxone: A Decade of Student-Led Overdose Prevention

    What does it take to build and sustain a campus overdose prevention program for over 10 years?  In 2026, Operation Naloxone at The University of Texas at Austin celebrates its 10-year anniversary. Since its launch, the program has trained thousands of people in opioid overdose prevention and naloxone use while helping expand access to lifesaving education across campus and the surrounding community.  Dr. Lucas Hill, Dr. Delandra Robinson, and Kate Lower discuss how the program was developed and how students became central to its implementation and growth.     Using Podcasting to Engage Students in SUD and Public Health Education
