  1. AI as a better model for work? A conversation with Talent Hacker, Board Member, Teacher, and Author, Steve Cadigan.

AI as a better model for work? A conversation with Talent Hacker, Board Member, Teacher, and Author, Steve Cadigan.

Are we asking the wrong questions about AI and work? While everyone debates which jobs AI will replace, talent strategist and former LinkedIn VP Steve Cadigan challenges us to imagine something far more radical: what if AI could help us redesign work itself around human flourishing rather than productivity? In this wide-ranging conversation, Steve—author, board member, and the mind behind some of Silicon Valley's most innovative talent strategies—argues that we're standing at a crossroads. We can let AI simply automate our current broken systems, or we can use this moment to fundamentally reimagine what work could become. Drawing from his decades of experience helping companies navigate technological disruption, Steve explores how AI might open a "third path" beyond replacement or augmentation—one where work becomes more creative, meaningful, and aligned with human nature. We dive deep into three provocative territories: breaking free from outdated work paradigms to discover new forms of valuable work that AI makes possible; questioning whether our obsession with productivity is obsolete when machines can handle routine tasks; and exploring how we might design technology systems that enhance rather than diminish our humanity. Steve shares real examples of organizations successfully reinventing themselves and offers practical guidance for leaders navigating this transformation. If you're a CEO, CHRO, or anyone grappling with how AI should reshape your organization, Steve's insights will challenge your assumptions about everything from the 8-hour workday to traditional career ladders. This isn't just about adopting new tools—it's about imagining a fundamentally better way to work and live. WHY ARE WE DOING THIS? In the last few months, nearly every leader we've spoken to at Brave has said something like, "our CEO has asked each CxO to come back with 2 AI use cases by next quarter". And while there’s endless commentary about the technology, there isn’t much practical advice on what’s actually working. So to help address this, Brave is talking to practitioners about what they've tried. In our conversations we ask, “What works?, What doesn't work? And what's still unknown?” So far, reviews are mixed. There's a lot of work to get it right, and the payoff isn't always impressive. Recently, CIOs are reporting sticker shock, as the full integration of AI turns out to be a lot more intensive then marketed. Intuit and UKG had to lay people off, apparently in an effort to cover their ballooning AI bills. In a recent study, Upwork found, “Nearly half (47%) of employees using AI say they have no idea how to achieve the productivity gains their employers expect, and 77% say these tools have actually decreased their productivity and added to their workload.” WHAT WE THINK. Brave helps companies build custom AI tools to improve workforce performance. But these numbers might make you think twice! Research shows if you use AI to fine tune existing work, it’s often not worth the effort. As we proceed to apply AI, the goal should be reinventing how we do things to achieve a big and better vision for the future. The question is, what do you aim to do?

  2. Growth Through Talent & Technology a conversation with former Western Union CHRO, Richard Williams

Growth Through Talent & Technology a conversation with former Western Union CHRO, Richard Williams

If our business model is already working well, how we respond to #AI? In HR, how do we use AI to update #learning, #recruiting, or #employee experience? The pressure to change is constant because of technology, and also because employees are less happy, employment is less appealing, and competitive differentiation is harder than ever.  So we asked #CHRO Richard Williams, how the companies’ he’s led, like Western Union and American Express, have managed multiple technology #transformations over the last 150 years. What makes them unique? What can the rest of us learn from their experience? AI isn’t the first technology transformation in our lifetime. CHRO Richard Williams helped AMEX adopt computing and analytics, then later helped Western Union adopt the internet and mobile. These businesses have survived 150 years because, despite needing to change fundamental aspects of how they work and compete, they have managed to adapt. Much of why, has to with leadership. Join us for a conversation with Richard about the 5 traits of companies that survive and thrive during change, and how they do it. WHY ARE WE DOING THIS? 3. Building Better Organizations with Claudy Jules, Ph.D.

Building Better Organizations with Claudy Jules, Ph.D.

Our Guest We recently discovered an intriguing term: #microculture. This concept has existed for 125 years in biology and several decades in the context of specialized social groups in organizations. Claudy Jules, Ph.D.—an accomplished strategist, industry innovator, executive leader, and author of "Building Better Organizations: How to Fuel Growth and Lead in a Digital Era"—emphasized that distinct microcultures are essential for thriving with frontier technologies like #AI. He questions whether the organizational principles of the industrial age still apply to today's digital-native and AI-first companies. Dr. Jules has devoted over 25 years to understanding and tackling these questions at the intersection of business and technology, with his recent focus on AI. Drawing from his experience as a former Partner at both McKinsey & Company and Accenture Strategy & Consulting, as well as a leader at Google and CapitalG, Alphabet Inc.'s independent growth equity firm. His insights are built upon a wealth of pragmatic experience. Episode Description After two decades guiding Fortune 500 transformations, Dr. Jules made a pivotal move from Accenture to Google that sparked a profound question: Do the organizational principles born in the industrial age still serve us in digital-native companies? His findings challenge conventional wisdom. While traditional companies struggle to "become digital," organizations born in the digital age operate differently at their core. They don't just use technology - they build micro-cultures where humans and machines constantly reinvent how work gets done. Dr. Jules shares how AI is reshaping organizational dynamics, why human judgment becomes more critical (not less) as AI advances, and why the quest for a "single company culture" might actually hinder innovation. He reveals how leading organizations are moving beyond traditional OD practices to build adaptive, AI-enabled teams.

  4. AI Workforce Planning with Dr. Lily Benjamin

AI Workforce Planning with Dr. Lily Benjamin

We’ve been heads down building lately, caught in the whirlwind of innovation. And, to be honest, it’s not always fun. Sometimes we need a reminder of the 'why' behind it all. Then, we spoke with Dr. Lily Benjamin, who reminded us that even when #AI is designed to replace jobs, it can't replace human ingenuity. Ingenuity is additive. With AI or without it, we’ll continue to find new ways to create value and help each other. At work, AI’s best role is amplifying our judgment—not replacing it. Lily has transformed organizations across medical, financial, and consumer industries. While others chase automation, truly innovative companies use AI to strengthen performance, building teams that are both hyper-efficient and deeply creative. Joshua Craver and I recently hosted Lily on We Are All Agents, where she shared practical insights on building AI-enabled organizations that actually work. How do you set up technology and talent to be partners, not competitors? Want to know how to use AI to build better teams, close skill gaps, and align talent with strategy? This conversation is for you. WHY ARE WE DOING THIS? This year, nearly every leader we've spoken to at BraveLabs has said something like, "our CEO has asked each CxO to come back with two AI use cases by next quarter". 5. Leading AI Transformation | a conversation with SprintRay CPO, Ed Cohen

Leading AI Transformation | a conversation with SprintRay CPO, Ed Cohen

Have you been asked, “what are doing with #AI?” Every day leaders tell me this is now their mandate to figure out. Heads of #HR, Heads of Marketing, and just yesterday, a Head of Legal. Yes, it looks interesting, but what value is AI adding? Has anything actually worked? I’ve had the same question and decided the only way to find out was to ask people who’ve done it. To start with, we’re asking Ed Cohen, #CPO at SprintRay Inc. Over many years with IBM, Amazon, and as CLO at Booz Allen Hamilton , he’s seen what technology has done well, and what might be a red herring. He’s going to go give us some practical advice on what we should be doing to lead through the uncertainty of technological change. If you’re a CEO or CHRO looking for the right approach to bringing in and succeeding with AI, then join us to hear veteran CPO Ed Cohen’s advice. After leading technology and management consulting firms for nearly 40 years, Ed has established a point of view on what leaders need to do to adopt and adapt to new technologies. He suspects, this time, it won’t be solved by delegating a project to IT. WHY ARE WE DOING THIS? In the last few months, nearly every leader we've spoken to at Brave has said something like, "our CEO has asked each CxO to come back with two AI use cases by next quarter".
