54 episodes

The less-than-serious history podcast with stand up comedian Angela Barnes (The News Quiz, Mock The Week and Live at The Apollo) and writer John O'Farrell (An Utterly Impartial History of Britain, Things Can Only Get Better, Spitting Image). In each podcast our two history nerds discuss, explain and laugh at interesting and quirky episodes from the olden days, such as East German Nudism, Spy Pigeons or Vlad the Impaler. Angela and John’s in-depth knowledge of world history has been described as ‘laughable’ - and now they read the history books so that you don't have to. The We Are History podcast - not as world-changing as the Black Death, but slightly funnier.

Good King W

I have to give you five stars because I’m 47 years old and just learned from your Christmas episode that that song is not about a guy named Stephen. Well, we know what to sing on Boxing Day now. :) Congratulations on your engagement, Angela! And we hope to hear you hosting more satirical news on the BBC soon!

Great show, definitely worth a listen

Absolutely great podcast, it’s a shame it’s not more well known; it’s interesting, engaging and humorous show.

Chatty, funny, and yet knowledgeable!

I just love listening to people who know enough about history to talk about it in an almost gossipy way. Interesting, quirky, funny. Knowledgeable, but the very opposite of dry recitation of research.
