Joe is a running coach, content creator, and the founder of Azoia Endurance, a nutrition company built around simple, real ingredients for endurance athletes. 88 | Brooke Bjorge, RDN | What Most People Get Wrong About Sweat, Salt, and Hydration

In this episode, we sit down with Brooke Bjorge, MS, RDN — sports dietitian, endurance athlete, and founder of Grit Sports Nutrition — to break down everything you didn't know you needed to know about hydration. Brooke has spent over a decade helping athletes of all levels dial in their nutrition and hydration, from first-timers to finishers at Kona, Leadville, and beyond. We get into what "optimized hydration" actually means (hint: it's not just drinking more water), why sodium is the electrolyte that matters most during long efforts, and how wildly different sweat losses can be from person to person — we're talking anywhere from 200 to 2,600 milligrams of sodium lost per hour. Brooke walks us through the gold-standard sweat composition test she offers through Precision Hydration, how sweat rate and sweat saltiness are two totally separate variables, and why sodium citrate is the form you want in your sports nutrition products. We also cover GI distress on race day, the risks of both under- and over-replacing electrolytes, how to adjust your hydration plan for heat and humidity, and whether you need to sodium-load before a big race. Brooke even shares her most memorable "we get to do this" moment — jumping off a ferry into the Norwegian fjords at the start of the Norseman Xtreme Ironman. Whether you're training for your first triathlon or your next 100-miler, this episode is packed with practical, science-backed insights you can put to use immediately. We're back with another listener Q&A! In this episode, we tackle some of our favorite questions yet — how to tell if you're doing too much, whether running early in life leads to breakdown later, our top three strength exercises for runners, and the great treadmill incline debate. Plus, we get into stair steppers, incline training, and when to treat an injury yourself versus calling in the team. ****** If this episode brought you any comfort, perspective, or energy, we would be so grateful if you took a moment to support the show. 86 | Lisa Radzak | Body Image, Eating Disorders, Raising Resilient Kids & What Every Parent and Coach Should Know

This episode covers sensitive topics including body image, body dissatisfaction, disordered eating, and eating disorders. We share these conversations with care and intention, but please be mindful of where you're at as you listen. You know yourself best. Please note that this podcast is not a substitute for professional advice or treatment, and Jacob and Kailee are not licensed mental health providers. If you or someone you love needs support, resources are linked below. ***** In episode 86, Jacob and Kailee sit down with Lisa Radzak, Executive Director of WithAll, a nonprofit dedicated to preventing eating disorders by reaching people early — long before patterns have a chance to take hold. Lisa opens up about her own journey, from some of her earliest memories being tied to how her body looked, through years of body dissatisfaction and disordered eating, to eventually being diagnosed with bulimia nervosa just before law school. Her path to recovery — and the privilege she recognized in having access to it — is what ultimately led her to dedicate her career to making sure other people, especially kids, don't have to travel that road at all. The conversation covers a lot of ground, including: The difference between body dissatisfaction, disordered eating, and a clinical eating disorderWhy you can never tell if someone has an eating disorder just by looking at themThe warning signs every coach, parent, and healthcare provider should knowHow to approach someone you're worried about without shutting them downThe four simple principles for raising kids with a healthy relationship with food and their bodiesWhy we should never tie food or exercise to appearance — and what to say insteadWhat to do if you're concerned about someone and where to find real helpLisa also shares why the prevention side of this work is so powerful, what it looks like to build awareness at the community level, and why the most impactful thing you can do for a kid might just be letting them move and never commenting on their body at all. This one is for every parent, coach, athlete, and human who has ever carried an old comment about their body a little longer than they should have — and wants to make sure the next generation doesn't have to. 85 | Run Through It or Rest? The Honest Guide to Injury vs. Soreness

We break down one of the most common dilemmas every runner faces — is it soreness or is it an injury? In this episode, we get personal about our own injury histories, share practical tools like the single-leg hop test and a pain scale reality check, and walk through the red flags that mean it's time to stop pushing. Because running smarter isn't just about the miles — it's about knowing when to rest, recover, and show back up. 84 | WHAT Do You Put Your Trust In? A Roundtable with Taylor Thomas & Christine Hernandez

In episode 84, Kailee and Jacob sit down with Growth Circle co-founders Taylor Thomas and Christine Hernandez for their first-ever four-person roundtable. The conversation goes deep, covering where real passion comes from (hint: it's not waiting around for it), the high performer's dilemma of staying present while always chasing the next goal, and what it actually means to grow. Taylor breaks down why passion follows movement, not the other way around, and why the 1% better every day narrative doesn't hold up in real life. Christine opens up about turning her most personal challenges into fuel, learning to redirect her fiery nature through the Enneagram, and the difference between driving for enough versus driving from enough. Together, they challenge the idea that growth is a straight diagonal line, and make a case for celebrating small wins, sitting in seasons of friction, and trusting the process even when the finish line feels far away. The conversation closes with Christine turning the tables and asking Kailee and Jacob one of the most disarming questions you can ask a high performer: "What do you think you are putting your trust in right now?" Not do you trust, but what. Their honest answers reveal a lot about what abundance actually looks like when you strip away the hustle, and might just have you pausing to ask yourself the very same thing. Whether you're an entrepreneur, an athlete, or just someone trying to stop white-knuckling their way through life, this one will have you asking better questions of yourself long after it ends. 83 | Spring BEWARE: Too Much Too Soon Too Quick

Spring is officially here, and while the warmer weather and longer days have us all itching to get outside and run, this time of year is actually the most popular season for running injuries, with March seeing more than twice as many doctor visits compared to other months. In this episode, we break down why the spring transition is so risky and how to make it through to race season healthy and strong. We cover the two biggest traps runners fall into: trying to make up for a low-mileage winter by ramping up too fast, and assuming that treadmill miles translate directly to road miles. Jacob shares his go-to recommendation for easing back outside with a 50/50 treadmill-to-road split before going full outdoor. We also talk about why dropping strength training once the weather gets nice is one of the most common mistakes we see, and how just one to two days a week in the weight room can keep you durable all season long. Kailee brings in some Traditional Chinese Medicine wisdom too. In TCM, spring is liver season, and the liver governs your tendons, which helps explain why Achilles issues, plantar fasciitis, and other connective tissue injuries spike this time of year. She also shares some simple food and lifestyle tips to support your body through the seasonal shift. We wrap up with some exciting announcements, including a group run on April 4th with giveaways for Grandma's Marathon entries for both 2026 and 2027! ***** If this episode brought you any comfort, perspective, or energy, we would be so grateful if you took a moment to support the show. Maggie shares her journey into chiropractic care, why she chose a movement-based approach to treatment, and how her background in personal training shapes the way she helps runners and active people stay healthy.
