    Episode 116 - Red Ants Marching Into the Night

    Colin reports back on his trip to London, On where theyve converted an apartment building into Supportive Housing Units. These units are designed for the homeless to have a safe place to recover after a visit to the hospital. We discuss the unfortunate reality where there is always someone that can make a group of people look bad, sort of like Dane Cook’s bit, “Brian’s Coming”. Is working at work always necessary? Does it always mean better work? We discussed a lot about work and jobs and terrible bosses and the book “B******t Jobs” by David Graeber. If your job disappeared, would the world notice?     Episode 115 - 0.05 is Basically Sober

    Would you just look at the state of that. Does anyone in Canada feel good about the economy? We don't know about you guys, but we definitely don’t feel good about it and we certainly don't know enough about the problems. We’ve heard about the great depression and we definitely know about the 2008 recession – are we headed in any direction resembling either of those things? After commiserating about how expensive everything is, we pivoted to discuss traffic circles, sped bumps and poor city planning (again?).     Episode 114 - That's Not How You Play the Game!

    This week we wonder if our parents’ generation have a different perspective on their relationship with time, specifically as they are retired. How much free time do the retired folks in your life expect you to have? Are you the kind of person that needs a plan before doing anything, or are you a free spirited individual who feels life can be more fun when you let it take you where it wants to go? Some people can be both, but they don’t switch well between the two. Don’t let bad communication upset you or the people you’re talking with. Most of us aren’t as good at communicating as we like to think we are. We talk about Pareto’s Law, the 80/20 rule; typically expressed as 20% of the knowledge gives you 80% of the results. Sometimes heard as 80% of the people consume 20% of our time. Are you getting the results you need from the things you’re trying to learn or apply? Maybe think about what that 20% might look like in your situation and get after it!
