You Don’t Read Because of Guilt (Not Lack of Time)

If you think you don’t read because you “don’t have time,” this video won’t help you organize your schedule; it will make you uncomfortable.Because the problem isn’t time; it’s what shows up the moment you finally could stop. That feeling of guilt. That voice telling you that you should be doing something useful.Or being available for others. In this video, we explore what is really happening when you try to read and can’t sustain it:— The conflict between caring and producing— The tension between two deep psychological structures— And why reading becomes an act of withdrawalThrough analytical psychology and Gothic symbolism, this is not just about reading; it’s about something more uncomfortable: your permission to exist without being available. 🔗 You can find more content and the deep workspace on my website. 🔗 Resources and links• Free monthly newsletter: https://gothicalice.com/#register• Blog: https://www.gothicalice.com/the-gothic-psyche-blog-articles-and-reflections• Free 45-minute session: https://www.gothicalice.com/learning-material/la-psique-gotica-grupo-de-investigacion• Subscribe to the channel: https://youtube.com/channel/UCzGQMs6xMxEwHTUVBpcK6MQ• Horror and Mother/Hoods in Global Cultural Imaginaries: Representations Across Literature, Film, Television, and Art: https://demeterpress.org/books/horror-and-mother-hoods-in-global-cultural-imaginaries-representations-across-literature-film-television-and-art/• Women in Supernatural: Critical Essays: https://mcfarlandbooks.com/product/women-in-supernatural/ You can also follow me on social media:Twitter: https://twitter.com/GothicAlice74Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/gothicalice74/LinkedIn: www.linkedin.com/in/alice-gothic-landMedium: https://alicegothicland.medium.com/________________________________________🖤 About this channelGothic Land is a space for self-exploration for those who feel there's something in their inner world that doesn't quite fit into conventional narratives. Here, we don't approach trauma, grief, or relational patterns with quick fixes, but rather with a deep understanding of what keeps repeating itself.Through analytical psychology and Gothic symbolism, we explore how certain experiences—loss, ambivalence, fear, or transformation—take shape without overwhelming the psyche.Gothic here isn't an aesthetic, but a language: a way of holding the dark without denying it or collapsing under its weight. This channel is for those who sense that what appears in dark narratives isn't pathology, but meaning that has yet to find its place. #Guilt #Reading #NoTime #SelfDevelopment #Burnout #RestGuilt #Productivity #CarlJung #Archetypes#AnalyticalPsychology #TheGreatMother #GothicPsychology #DarkAcademia ★ Support this podcast on Patreon ★

The Dark Side of Spring: Why March Feels Psychologically Intense - Welcome to Gothic Land #24

In this video, we explore the dark side of spring and why the month of March can feel emotionally and psychologically unsettling. While spring is often associated with renewal, light, and growth, many people experience anxiety, restlessness, or inner confusion during this time. Why does this happen?Through a Jungian and gothic psychological lens, we dive into themes of descent, death, and transformation as essential parts of the human psyche.Drawing from:– Carl Jung and the unconscious– Erich Neumann and the Great Mother archetype– Francisco Goya’s The Sleep of Reason Produces Monsters– Myths such as Persephone and Jesus Christwe explore how what we repress tends to return—especially during transitional periods like March. We also look at how stories like:– Dark– Supernatural– Belovedact as symbolic laboratories, helping us process grief, fear, and transformation.✨ Includes a practical exercise to help you identify what may be emerging in your inner world right now.________________________________________🕯️ If you're interested in:psychology, the unconscious, and symbolic analysis subscribe and join me in this descent.📩 Upcoming: downloadable material to work with your own symbols and inner cycles. 🔗 Resources and links• Free monthly newsletter: https://gothicalice.com/#register• Blog: https://www.gothicalice.com/the-gothic-psyche-blog-articles-and-reflections• Free 45-minute session: https://www.gothicalice.com/learning-material/la-psique-gotica-grupo-de-investigacion• Subscribe to the channel: https://youtube.com/channel/UCzGQMs6xMxEwHTUVBpcK6MQ• Horror and Mother/Hoods in Global Cultural Imaginaries: Representations Across Literature, Film, Television, and Art: https://demeterpress.org/books/horror-and-mother-hoods-in-global-cultural-imaginaries-representations-across-literature-film-television-and-art/• Women in Supernatural: Critical Essays: https://mcfarlandbooks.com/product/women-in-supernatural/ You can also follow me on social media:Twitter: https://twitter.com/GothicAlice74Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/gothicalice74/LinkedIn: www.linkedin.com/in/alice-gothic-landMedium: https://alicegothicland.medium.com/ ________________________________________🖤 About this channelGothic Land is a space for exploring the inner world through a Gothic–Jungian lens, with particular attention to trauma, grief, relational patterns, and psychological thresholds. Here, literature, art, and cultural productions are approached not as objects of consumption, but as symbolic architectures that allow difficult experiences—loss, ambivalence, fear, transformation—to take form without overwhelming the psyche. The Gothic is not treated as an aesthetic or a trend, but as a psychic language of containment: a way of inhabiting darkness consciously, ethically, and without collapse. This channel does not offer quick fixes or entertainment detached from depth. 3. Why the Gothic Can Help You Understand Yourself (Psychology & Trauma)

Why the Gothic Can Help You Understand Yourself (Psychology & Trauma)

Why does the Gothic keep returning—especially in times of emotional transition? In this video, I explore how the Gothic can help us understand trauma, relationships, and the psychological climate we live in today.Rather than treating the Gothic as an aesthetic or a trend, I approach it as a psychic language and a container for the unconscious, drawing on Jungian psychology, symbolism, and trauma theory.Using February as a threshold month—marked by light rituals, masks, and relational reactivations—I reflect on:• Why dark narratives never truly disappear• How Gothic literature and horror function as psychic architecture• Why what is not symbolised returns through relationships and the body• How the archetype of the Great Mother operates as a principle of containment rather than an idealised figureThis video is especially relevant if you are interested in:trauma and symbolism, Jungian psychology, Gothic literature and horror cinema, grief, motherhood, emotional ambivalence, or using art as a tool for self-understanding.Here, the Gothic is not something to consume—but something to inhabit, consciously and safely. 🔗 Resources and links• Free monthly newsletter: https://gothicalice.com/#register• Blog: https://www.gothicalice.com/the-gothic-psyche-blog-articles-and-reflections• Free 45-minute session: https://www.gothicalice.com/learning-material/la-psique-gotica-grupo-de-investigacion• Subscribe to the channel: https://youtube.com/channel/UCzGQMs6xMxEwHTUVBpcK6MQ• Horror and Mother/Hoods in Global Cultural Imaginaries: Representations Across Literature, Film, Television, and Art: https://demeterpress.org/books/horror-and-mother-hoods-in-global-cultural-imaginaries-representations-across-literature-film-television-and-art/• Women in Supernatural: Critical Essays: https://mcfarlandbooks.com/product/women-in-supernatural/ 🖤 About this channelGothic Land is a space for exploring the inner world through a Gothic–Jungian lens, with particular attention to trauma, grief, relational patterns, and psychological thresholds. 4. Why January Leaves Us Empty: Trauma, Neurodivergence, and Gothic as an Emotional Container

    JAN 16

Why January Leaves Us Empty: Trauma, Neurodivergence, and Gothic as an Emotional Container

January can feel empty, heavy, or even painful. For many people, the end of the holidays doesn't bring relief, but rather a feeling difficult to name: emotional exhaustion, nostalgia, helplessness. In this episode of Gothic Land, I explore why January hurts from a Gothic-Jungian perspective, using the concept of the psychoid character of the archetype, described by Carl Jung, to understand emotional experiences that are felt in the body before they can be put into words. I reflect especially on how this emptiness manifests in neurodivergent people and those with a history of complex trauma, and how Gothic expression can function as a symbolic container during times of transition. In this episode, we discuss: The emotional void after the holidays (Post-Holiday Blues)How celebrations trigger early memoriesThe psychoid nature of the archetype and pre-language experiencesJanuary as a threshold between the collective and the intimateStranger Things as a contemporary gothic metaphor for complex traumaGothic as a space for emotional detox and symbolic containmentGothic Land is a space dedicated to the deep exploration of the inner world through symbolic language, analytical psychology, and gothic culture. Here you won't find quick fixes, but rather pauses to listen to what is usually left unspoken. 🔗 Resources and links• Free monthly newsletter: https://gothicalice.com/#register• Blog: https://www.gothicalice.com/the-gothic-psyche-blog-articles-and-reflections• Free 45-minute session: https://www.gothicalice.com/learning-material/la-psique-gotica-grupo-de-investigacion• Subscribe to the channel: https://youtube.com/channel/UCzGQMs6xMxEwHTUVBpcK6MQ You can also follow me on social media:Twitter: https://twitter.com/GothicAlice74Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/gothicalice74/LinkedIn: www.linkedin.com/in/alice-gothic-landMedium: https://alicegothicland.medium.com/ ★ Support this podcast on Patreon ★

The ghost as psychic residue: Jung, shadow, mourning and Gothic literature - Welcome to Gothic Land #21

“Welcome to Gothic Land” is a video podcast created by Alice in Gothic Land. It's a place where we analyze the psychology behind Gothic productions and elements so we can find our balance. I help you find equilibrium during transitions by analyzing literary works, television programs, songs, and other artistic representations. In other words, an analysis of Gothic psychology.   When we talk about ghosts, we usually think of the supernatural. But in the psyche—and especially in Gothic literature—the ghost appears when a loss has not been processed, named, or mourned.   In this video, we explore the ghost as a psychic residue, a concept that connects with Carl Jung's Shadow, unresolved grief, and experiences that remain active in our unconscious.   From the perspective of the Gothic psyche, we understand the ghostly not as pathology, but as a symbolic language that emerges when something has not been integrated. Throughout the video, we discuss:   • what psychic residue is and its relationship to the Shadow • the ghost in art and literature (from Guernica to Beloved) • collective trauma and transgenerational echoes • why Gothic literature is a safe symbolic space to work through loss without fear • invisible grief and unrecognized experiences (prenatal loss, migration, illness, motherhood, life changes)   This content is part of my Gothic Psyche School of Thought, an educational and cultural project where death, absence, and the unspoken are addressed through symbolic language, not pathologization. 📚 If you are interested in working with your own ghosts from a symbolic and cultural perspective, you will find educational resources on my website and expanded content on Patreon.   🖤 Thank you for supporting this project and for daring to look at what usually remains unspoken. →→ FREE PDF download “15+ Reasons Why Your Neurodivergent Brain Loves Horror and the Gothic” https://www.gothicalice.com/#neurodivergent-gothic-checklist   🕯️ If this approach resonates with you: Join my Gothic Psyche School of Thought, a space to explore and practice a symbolic, artistic, and profound psychology. https://www.gothicalice.com 👁️‍🗝️ The Gothic Psyche: A Guided Research and Reflection Group Schedule a free 45-minute session with me and join the group: https://www.gothicalice.com/learning-material/the-gothic-psyche-investigation-group   📚 New course in January “Exploring the Gothic Psyche: An Introspective Journey through Gothic Expression” https://www.gothicalice.com/exploring-the-gothic-psyche   🕯️ Support My Independent Research https://www.patreon.com/c/AliceInGothicLand 🎓 The Gothic as a Psychic Container: Experiences of AuDHD Individuals with Complex Trauma in Relation to Gothic Literature and Horror Cinema   🖤 Subscribe to my free monthly newsletter: https://gothicalice.com/#register 📚 The School of Gothic Psyche: https://www.gothicalice.com/ 📺 Subscribe to the channel: https://youtube.com/channel/UCzGQMs6xMxEwHTUVBpcK6MQ You can also follow me on my webpage, YouTube, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn and Medium. I help you find equilibrium during transitions by analyzing literary works, television programs, songs, and other artistic representations. In other words, an analysis of Gothic psychology.   What if Gothic isn't just a style, but a language of the soul? In this video, we explore how Gothic space can offer a symbolic refuge and a means of communication between neurotypical and neurodivergent individuals. Through a Jungian and aesthetic reading, we discover that the human mind, like a Gothic cathedral, is made of light and shadow, broken arches, and imperfect beauty. 🔮 In this episode, we reflect on: • Why we need a new language to talk about difference. • Why gothic can be a refuge and a mirror for your own otherness. • How to see neurodivergence as your gothic journey. • How to normalize difference without erasing the shadow. • Why we need a gothic psychology that doesn't pathologize, but understands. →→ FREE PDF download “15+ Reasons Why Your Neurodivergent Brain Loves Horror and the Gothic” https://www.gothicalice.com/#neurodivergent-gothic-checklist #gothicpsychology #CarlJung #logotic #psychologicalhorror #unconscious #archetypes #neurodivergence #trauma #selfknowledge #shadow #autism #ADHD #symbolism #gothicliterature #creativity #gothicpsychologyschool #thegothicdescent #darkacademia #aliceingothicland You can also follow me on my webpage, YouTube, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn,Medium,WhatsApp and Telegram. From a Jungian perspective, the Gothic is not just an aesthetic or a literary genre —it’s a language of the unconscious, a symbolic mirror of our fears, desires, and inner transformations.
