Finding Joy in God’s Word with April Joy Gadoury

Many women genuinely want to understand the Bible, but they are not always sure where to begin. They may open Scripture and feel overwhelmed, become discouraged when they do not immediately understand what they are reading, or compare their spiritual practices with those of other women. April Joy Gadoury believes that spending time in God’s Word can be both deeply meaningful and joy-filled. Through A Joy Full Life, April helps women dig deeper into Scripture through unique, creative, and memorable experiences. Her approach encourages women to slow down, pay attention, ask questions, and engage with biblical truth in ways that help it remain with them long after their study time has ended. During this heartfelt conversation, April shares how her relationship with God developed and how He began connecting her creativity with her calling to teach. What may have once appeared to be separate interests became part of a larger purpose: helping women encounter God through His Word. Regina and April also talk about the pressure women sometimes place on themselves when it comes to spiritual disciplines. Bible study can easily become another task to complete rather than an opportunity to spend time with the God who loves us. April reminds listeners that there is no single formula for connecting with Scripture. Some women may learn through writing, drawing, journaling, visual reminders, conversation, or hands-on experiences. The goal is not to create something perfect or impressive. The goal is to remain present, listen for what God is teaching, and allow His truth to take root. The conversation also explores the relationship between creativity and faith. Creativity is not reserved for professional artists. Because we were created by God, creativity can appear in countless forms—from the way we solve problems and care for people to the way we notice beauty, tell stories, organize ideas, or reflect on Scripture. April encourages women to release the fear of doing Bible study incorrectly. God is not grading our quiet time or comparing our journals. He desires relationship, honesty, willingness, and an open heart. This episode offers practical encouragement for anyone who: Wants to understand Scripture more deeply Has struggled to maintain a consistent Bible-study routine Feels intimidated or overwhelmed when reading the Bible Believes she is not creative Wants to discover fresh ways of connecting with God Is learning to trust how God has uniquely designed and gifted her Desires more joy, curiosity, and freedom in her spiritual life In This Episode, Regina and April Discuss April’s personal faith journey and the story behind A Joy Full Life How God brought together April’s creativity and love of Scripture The importance of experiencing Scripture rather than simply collecting information Why many women feel intimidated by Bible study Letting go of perfectionism in our time with God Creative and memorable ways to engage with biblical truth Recognizing that creativity can take many different forms Developing curiosity while reading the Bible How to begin when you feel overwhelmed or spiritually stuck Trusting God with the gifts and passions He has placed within you Creating space to hear God in a busy and distracted world The joy that grows as we deepen our relationship with Jesus Key Takeaways Bible study is an invitation, not an obligation. God’s Word is not simply another item to complete. It is an invitation to know God’s heart and spend time in His presence. You do not have to study Scripture exactly like someone else. God created each person uniquely. The practices that help one woman connect with Scripture may look different from those that help another. Creativity is not about artistic perfection. Creativity can help us slow down, notice details, remember truth, and respond personally to what God is teaching us. Curiosity can deepen our understanding. Asking thoughtful questions about a passage can help us move beyond familiar words and discover the context, meaning, and application of Scripture. Consistency begins with small, faithful steps. You do not need an elaborate routine. Begin with the time and capacity you have, and trust God to meet you there. God can use every part of your story. Your experiences, abilities, interests, and even the parts of yourself you once dismissed may become part of how God serves others through you. Reflection Questions What has made Bible study feel difficult or intimidating for you? Do you approach Scripture primarily as information to learn or as an opportunity to encounter God? What creative practice might help you slow down and engage more deeply with a Bible passage? Where have you compared your spiritual life with someone else’s? What gift, interest, or part of your story might God be asking you to use for His purposes? What is one small, realistic step you can take this week to spend more meaningful time in God’s Word? A Simple Practice for This Week Choose a short passage of Scripture and read it slowly several times. As you read, consider: What word or phrase captures my attention? What does this passage reveal about God? What does it reveal about people? Is there a promise to receive, a truth to believe, or an action to take? How can I remember this passage throughout the week? Write, draw, journal, pray, or create a visual reminder of what God is showing you. The finished product does not have to be beautiful. Let the process become an opportunity to remain with God and His Word. About April Joy Gadoury April Joy Gadoury is a Bible teacher, speaker, and the founder of A Joy Full Life. April’s story reminds us that God’s Word is alive, personal, and filled with treasures waiting to be discovered. Disciples Leading Disciples with Sara Dangerfield

What if one of the greatest challenges facing the modern Church isn't opposition from the world—but silence from believers? In this powerful conversation, Regina sits down with pastor, author, and disciple-maker Sara Dangerfield to discuss her book, Leading Spiritual Hoarders: Creating a Culture of Disciples Who Make Disciples. Together they unpack why so many Christians have unintentionally become "spiritual hoarders," holding tightly to the greatest news ever told instead of sharing it with others. Sara shares her remarkable faith journey of growing up with a Christian mother and Muslim father, having to choose her faith at a young age, and how that decision eventually led her into more than two decades of ministry. From children's ministry to serving as a lead pastor, she offers practical, biblical wisdom for every believer who longs to become more confident in sharing Jesus with others. This conversation is filled with encouragement, practical ideas, and reminders that discipleship isn't reserved for pastors—it's the calling of every follower of Christ. In This Episode Sara's unique faith story and early decision to follow Christ The meaning behind the phrase "Spiritual Hoarder" Why discipleship has weakened in many churches The role of the Holy Spirit in sharing our faith Overcoming the fear of not knowing enough Why obedience matters more than outcomes Practical ways to begin discipling others today Building authentic relationships in an increasingly distracted world Why women are uniquely positioned to influence the Kingdom of God How every believer can become a disciple who makes disciples Memorable Quotes "You only need to be one step ahead of someone else to begin discipling them." "Our responsibility is obedience. The outcome belongs to Jesus." "The Gospel is too good to keep to ourselves." "The Church doesn't just need information—it needs multiplication." Scripture Mentioned Matthew 28:19-20 – The Great Commission Matthew 5:14-16 – Let your light shine Acts 1:8 – Empowered by the Holy Spirit Romans 10:14-15 – How will they hear? Faith and Finances with Heather Day

In this episode of Well & Grace, Regina Bartlett (host) sits down with Heather Day to explore a rich, faith‑deep conversation about how our finances are intimately tied to our spiritual lives. Heather shares her personal journey of discovering that “money is spiritual” and how she and her husband experienced the tension of debt, worry, and misalignment—and how surrendering their finances to God became pivotal. Together we unpack how the fruits of the Spirit (love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self‑control) inform our financial decisions. Heather helps us see how financial stewardship is less about tactics and more about heart transformation. We discuss practical steps for women in faith to begin aligning their treasures with their trust in God, and how to invite the Holy Spirit’s leadership into budgeting, giving, debt‑management, and legacy. Whether you’re navigating money after surgery, starting fresh after loss, or simply want your financial choices to reflect your faith more fully—this episode offers insight, encouragement and hope.   Key Takeaways Your money is not just numbers—it’s a reflection of your heart and relationship with God. Financial struggles often point to deeper spiritual symptoms, not just financial problems. When we surrender our finances to the Holy Spirit, the “why” behind our money choices becomes clearer than the “how”. The fruits of the Spirit offer a framework for financial decisions: e.g., doing God’s work (goodness), trusting God’s timing (patience), giving generously (kindness), managing well (self‑control). It’s okay if you’re still working things out—community, authenticity and confession are part of the journey. As women in faith, our stories of financial transformation can become testimonies of God’s grace, not shame.   Favorite Quotes “I believe that money is spiritual and some of the things that we see—the way that we treat and view and manage our money—is often a symptom of a much deeper issue.” — Heather M. Day  “Stewardship to me is all about … I am handling these things that are God’s.
