Vikki Petraitis co-wrote The Phillip Island Murder with journalist Paul Daley. The story that captivated Vikki from the moment she heard of it has had a similar effect on people worldwide. Long after the original book went out of print, people would stumble on it in second-hand stores and get in touch with her. Interest has never really died down. The Phillip Island Murder was featured on an episode of Sensing Murder in 2005, and then became Case 80: Beth Barnard on Casefile in 2018. Blood evidence at the scene suggested Sarah had been attacked and may not have survived. But her attacker took her, and Sarah’s body has never been recovered. I was really looking forward to this podcast but honestly it’s just way too long for me. The information and care that has been given to each episode is amazing but I feel that information is repeated multiple times. I do not think these need to be over an hour in length.

So I’ve only listened to the first episode and it seemed like the female reporter was really trying to egg him on you know, it just seemed really tacky. I don’t think I’ll be listening to the rest of the podcast.

The compassion, care, and excellent writing all contribute to making this podcast one of the best. I appreciate the length of the episodes (unlike other reviewers who found it too long) after finding other shorter podcasts on similar topics only focused on the salacious details instead of bringing in the people affected.
