What the Hell is Up

What the Hell is Up

An ex-wannabe-world-changer asks "what the hell is up" with local artists and changemakers. Each episode, I'll chat with artists who offer proof that art has the power to inspire authenticity, community, and change. You'll hear local indie music, conversations that provoke inspiration, and my own reflections. I once thought that I had to sacrifice my love of the arts to help change the world, now I believe that beauty and art have the power to connect and change us –maybe more than anything else.

3.16: Rooted in mutual aid FEAT. Lara de la Rosa & music by Maya Marie

Welcome back to the show, stars. In today's episode, you'll hear the loveliest of interviews I had with Lara de la Rosa, owner of Lazy Cow bakery, a vegan cafe and mutual aid space in the Fremont neighborhood of Seattle, Washington. We discussed the values of Lazy Cow which are rooted in mutual aid, non-hierarchical business, and community. You'll hear music by the incredible Maya Marie, a recent recipient of Seattle's Sonic Guild grant for local musicians. Currently, Lazy Cow faces the threat of demolition after the building was bought out by a billion-dollar development company. Sign the petition to save Lazy Cow and if you're in Seattle, stop by the cafe or purchase a beautiful vegan cake!
