Finally!

After months and months of searching for a musical theater podcast that fit a specific criteria—talk about a musical, break it down, give a little history, play some clips of the music, and review it —I finally found one, and it’s perfect. Honestly, I thought there would be hundreds of podcasts that fit the criteria, but not so much. Some analyze musicals, but go off on uninteresting disjointed tangents, that are neither enlightening or entertaining. Some have interviews with people working in musical theater—yes, please—but those don’t really analyze specific shows. There is one that gives the production history of a musical, but a new episode is released every Haley’s Comet.

What the Musical is PERFECT. The hosts, Chelsey and Tara, are funny, smart, and they do research, but keep it concise. They give their opinions on the musical, along with their favorite numbers. It’s so well put together and organized. Plus, they play small clips of the music! I don’t write reviews, normally. But the search for a podcast like this one has been so long, arduous, and disappointing, that I had to review it immediately. LISTEN, LISTEN, LISTEN. Good job, Chelsey and Tara.

Skuuuuuull Island

I saw King Kong last year when I visited NYC. It was the very first show that I saw on Broadway and it was hilariously bad, and I got the urge to relive it. This podcast brought back the memories! The laser beams! The triangle ship! THE PUPPET!!!!!! Total trash! Fun podcast!

S’wonderful

This podcast has moved up to one of my “must listen now the minute that I see it update” podcasts. The hosts are charming, knowledgeable, and fun to listen to. I always learn something, even if I always don’t agree. Great work, and everyone should listen. Cuz I’m also one of those kids.
