    In this episode, we touch on the patient impact of the plasma shortage. Our goal is to raise awareness and educate on the importance of plasma donations. Our guest is Primary Immune Deficiency Disease Advocate, Megan Ryan.  Megan Ryan is a native Texan; lover of flowers, plants and gardening; always planning for an upcoming travel adventure -- and for almost 20 years lived with Common Variable Immune Deficiency, one of more than 300 identified primary immunodeficiency diseases.  Megan is treated with weekly infusions of immune globulin which is manufactured from human plasma.Without this weekly treatment she’d likely live with persistent and potentially fatal infections.  She’s taken her weekly treatments on the road to more than 20 countries and four continents so far.     Living With a Primary Immune Deficiency During Coronavirus Pandemic: Ft John Boyle, President & CEO, Immune Deficiency Foundation

    Season 1 of What The Plasma is here! Our first guest is John Boyle, President & CEO of the Immune Deficiency Foundation (IDF).  John has served as President & CEO of the IDF since 2017. His career has been devoted to nonprofit management and health advocacy, most recently as Vice President of External Relations at IDF. In 1978, John was diagnosed with a primary immunodeficiency (PI), specifically X-linked Agammaglobulinemia, and has received immunoglobulin replacement therapy since he was six months old. John is focused on advancing the Foundation’s advocacy, education, and research initiatives – both today and in the future. He leads a dedicated team working to grow the IDF community while anticipating future challenges for those affected by PI, such as emerging treatments, healthcare policy, and access issues. Prior to IDF, John worked for Children’s National Medical Center and the Platelet Disorder Support Association. He received a B.S. from Boston University and an M.A. in Nonprofit Management from Notre Dame of Maryland University.
