    Chinatown (with Paul Scheer)

    Chinatown (with Paul Scheer)

This week, Faye Dunaway and Roman Polanski square off in one of the messiest on set feuds of all time. ‘Chinatown’ may be one of the greatest movies ever made, but between hair plucking, tv throwing, and alleged urine tossing, the production was an absolute disaster. Special guest Paul Scheer joins the pod to discuss the insane making of the 1974 Jack Nicholson classic, and the complicated legacy it leaves behind.

Below The Line - Armorer (Django Unchained)

Armorer Larry Zanoff (Django Unchained, Captain America: Winter Soldier, The Matrix Resurrections) is a combat veteran, a bonafide gunsmith, and a weapons trainer for actors and law enforcmenet officers alike. He is also a great storyteller and educator, which makes him uniquely capable of explaining the critically important, yet often overlooked role of an armorer. Join us for a discussion on the responsibilities of an on-set armorer, cross-collaboration with departments you wouldn't expect, and what we need to learn from the rare but devastating on-set firearm tragedies that have captured headlines for decades.

    The Crow

    The Crow

‘The Crow’ set the mold for R-rated comic book adaptations, but it’s perhaps most famous for putting its enigmatic star Brandon Lee on the map… and taking him off it forever. Find out how the 1994 film was riddled with problems long before Lee’s untimely death, who else almost played Eric Draven, and the film’s surprising connection to ‘John Wick’. We’re also joined by an expert, armorer Larry Zanoff, to break down the shooting itself.

Awesome real-to-reel life stories

This podcast is great. Although the two guests sometimes are unfamiliar with the bigger cinematic contexts discussed (the Jeffrey Jones/Howard the Duck disconnection a notable moment), the behind-the-scenes stories are well-researched and engagingly told. The frustrations and hubris on exhibit in the course of producing some of favorite, and least favorite, movies makes for compelling storytelling. I find myself moved by the co-hosts’ empathy for the filmmakers and their often Herculean task of bringing a film to fruition while attempting to overcome the many hurtles in their way. Good stuff!

Love it!

I’ve been obsessed with this podcast for the past few days and have already flown through 12 episodes. Each episode is filled with fascinating and well-researched stories, as well as funny and insightful commentary from the hosts. I’ve kind of fallen on the wayside lately with my movie watching but this podcast makes me want to discover more cinema <3

Addicted.

I’m an actor and was turned on to the pod by an amazing fight coordinator in NYC—since then (a week ago) I’ve listened to around 10 episodes. Please keep them comin’! I learn something new every time.
