45. Digging into Intentional Travel in Costa Rica
In this week's episode, I'm taking you on a very personal journey as I unpack my recent experiences in Costa Rica. Over the past several months I've had some realizations that my constant movement has been a band-aid for deeper issues and a way to cope with life's stresses. Through this self-discovery, I delve into the idea of intentional travel and what it means to truly stay present, even when things get tough.
I'll be sharing the raw moments when travel no longer served as my escape and how it forced me to confront what I’d been avoiding. Join me as I reflect on why I’ve been running and how I aim to change my approach to exploring this beautiful world. Get ready to hear all about my highs and lows, the lessons learned, and how I'm striving to turn travel into a space for personal growth rather than an escape!
In this episode I vulnerably share...
Definition of coping mechanisms and their relevance to travel
My realization that travel acted as a coping mechanism
Looking back at my initial traveling years
How the intentions behind my travels has evolved over the years
Encouraging you to reflect on your travel intentions

43: An Inside Look at Life in Occupied Palestine with Suzanne Yatim Aslam
As travelers, we have a responsibility to be aware, educate ourselves, and most importantly speak out against genocide.
Welcome to season 3 of the While She's Away Podcast. I wish I didn't have to begin this season talking about an active genocide that is happening to the Palestinian people in Gaza, but I must. Silence is complicity at this point. So I hope, as fellow travelers and global citizens, that you take the time and listen and learn from our guest this week, Suzanne.
Suzanne Aslam is a former actress, activist, and Miss Arab USA turned writer. Suzanne helps young mothers dealing with postpartum depression. As an activist and Palestinian American, she spent time in Palestine working with a peacekeeping team and has a deep and personal understanding of the occupation.
In this episode, we talk about:
The history of Palestine
What is currently happening in Gaza
Defining important words such as Zionism, settlers, apartheid, etc.
Suzanne's personal experience doing activism in the West Bank
How her family has been personally impacted by the occupation
What we can do to support Palestine
Ways to educate ourselves and learn more
Thank you for taking the time to listen and learn from Suzanne! If you found this episode at all helpful, please share it with a friend who wants to learn more about the struggles of the Palestinian people.

This Podcast helped me to become a Digital Nomad
Taking the leap to become a full time traveler is so scary but listening to Dianni and the variety of guests she interviews helped me realize there was so many ways to do it. She explores so many topics, especially ones that are relevant to female solo travel. I loved this because it was so scary to travel alone as a woman and this really gave me the confidence to see so many women doing it as well.
Such a genuine & wonderful show!
Dianni is such a genuine host on topics that are sometimes hard to discuss & share with eachother about. This podcast not only offers real life stories from her own life and travels, but she also hosts experts and other travelers who can help make your travel experience more fun, sustainable (as in traveling for longer), and safer. If you’re ready to start out on an adventure and see the world differently, this show is for you!!!
Highly recommend!
Dianni is such a thoughtful host and interviewer. She asks questions that really allow her guests to shine and offer knowledge that is useful for wherever you are in your travel journey!
