Whisky and Things is a lifestyle entertainment show consisting of whisky reviews and other whisky related topics mixed with real life experiences from the two hosts Dave Giles and Nick Kent. The pair became good friends when they met at university studying music back in 2003. Their friendship grew despite their touring and work schedules and they’ve always made time to enjoy each other and share the things they love.

We’re very lucky this week to be sampling another dram from Tasmania, in the form of the Fanny’s Bay Single Malt Whisky. Our first 100% Malted Barley example from the Australian island, so we’re very excited to see how it tastes and find out all about their story. We’re also joined by Jamie Ryder, a hospitality copywriter, whisky fan and fiction author who likes to combine drinks, pop culture and philosophy. He's the editor of Yamato Magazine, a Japanese culture publication that celebrates Japanese drinks and more. He also runs Drink To That, a hospitality newsletter that promotes drinking stories and brands from all over the world. In addition, he's the creator of Tales Of The Frontier, a horror western world of monsters, magic and mayhem. His debut novella At The Dead Of Dusk is available now. New to Whisky
I’m a novice whisky drinker, but diligently improving my skills! This podcast is informative and laugh-out-loud funny. It’s a nice mix of education and tomfoolery. The banter between Nick and Dave is smart and clever. Love it!!
You should definitely be listening to this.
Now I want to be upfront. I’m not necessarily a whiskey fan/person. But I have loved each episode so far. It’s more the easy banter between friends that you can tell know each other well and have a long history. And the guests they’ve had so far have been carried and entertaining. I particularly enjoyed the whiskey tasting Nick did and learning about all the nuances. Will definitely be listening for future episodes and you should too! Cheers!
