I absolutely love this show! I’ve been listening to this podcast since April, 2025. It’s perfect for listening during most any situation. It’s binge-worthy. Surprisingly, it’s also nice for looking for ideas for writing; whether it be fan fiction, or original content. Overall, pretty solid for family-friendly audiences, too. I’m especially partial to the characters used from video games, Marvel, and manga and anime. However, like lots of other things one would come across, this show has its plus and minus, (especially during this year; 2025).
The Good:
1.
Excellent for (somewhat) expert-level, yet also, friendly debates revolving around hypothetical battles between different characters.
2.
The host, Sam, and home field debater Ray, and every guest debater have good chemistry that makes the show and debates that make the show and characters filled with fun facts, as well as moments that make me (and (many) others people) laugh. Everybody at some point or another has had disappointments with some of the outcomes, but most of the time I end up saying “GG.”
4.
Who Would Win Masters is nice if you’re looking for something more like an energetic sports game, or a series of videogame minigames, either involving a timer; beat the clock. Nice to have a guest debater acting as an away/guest opponent/team; go figure, but nice touch.
5.
The folks who run and bring this show to life actually listen, and even talk to its fans and audience;
A.
Letting the fans and audience vote on who the true winner of each battle.
B.
Taking suggestions and actually consider them, unlike a lot of bigger entities in different industries (unfortunately). Voting for future characters to use on the show is a massive plus. It reminds me of how the Angel Studios’s Angel Guild operates, democratizing the process of things being decided and made.
The Bad:
1.
As good as Who Would Win Masters is, I, myself, and many others miss the original style of the Who Would Win show; James and Ray as the debaters, and a fun guest judge. It was what (originally) made the Who Would Win show so fantastic and laugh-out-loud-level amusing.
Suggestions:
1.
Maybe it would be a good idea to include some other divisions to do episodes of on a few different occasions:
• Who Would Win: Junior Division
- On the basic level, include a division where children can come on board for Who Would Win debates
• The Who Would Win Champions League
- A tournament-style series Who Would Win battles once a year.
- Takes place during the weekend.
- Guest debaters and James and Ray acting as the judges.
2.
• Bring back Showdown September and Mainstream March.
3.
Please bring back the hilarious jokes from when Ray would “…doing the honors and announce the matchup.”
Conclusion:
Overall, like the original Who Would Win Show, Who Would Win Masters is a really good and solid show and podcast. I would recommend it everybody and their brother!
