    #20 Sex as Service

    #20 Sex as Service

This week’s episode extends from the archetype of the sacred prostitute, to the social and historical implications of sex as a service. That is to say, we go deep. This is one of those ideas that is simultaneously misunderstood, underexplored, and criticized. Our conversation covers multiple corners, both personal and cultural.

    #19 Contraception

Welcome to the whoremone episode. In our first ever coffee-time podcast, we discuss the varied methods of birth control, periods, morning after pills, hormone imbalances, STIs, and the excessively inflated stigma and shame attached to all of it. We also dabble in supplements, functional versus standard Western approaches to health, and abortion. There’s really something for everyone here.

    #18 Masculinity

    #18 Masculinity

We’re on to part two of this round of the Femininity-Masculinity discussion. We begin by recounting our earliest understandings of masculinity. From there we explore cultural perceptions and layers of healthy masculinity; feminine/masculine interplay; masculine embodiment; and the dangers of perpetuating the concept of “toxic masculinity.” It’s an intricate one.

    #17 Femininity

    #17 Femininity

After a circumstantial summer break, we’re back with an episode we've been mulling over since long before any of us knew what it meant to #quarantineandchill. This is part one of an energetic discussion about femininity and masculinity. We discuss the paradigms that exist around embodied femininity; the light and shadow of both feminine and masculine energies; and how all of this plays out within the context of the Madonna-Whore dichotomy. We also get into WAP, naturally.

#16 Shaming, Grooming & Cancel Culture

In this week’s episode we decided to address the moment, head on. We begin by discussing the accusations facing Chris D’Elia (et. al.), and move into the problems with shaming as a strategy for change; the importance and value of self reflection; and the power of constructive, individual voice. It’s a totally "consexual" conversation.

    # 15 Power

This is one of those big issue episodes we couldn’t wait on any longer. The conversation includes a discussion of the Lewinsky-Clinton scandal; egalitarian versus Western, patriarchal understandings of power; cultural perceptions of the penis; and masculine versus feminine expressions of power.

Casual Integrity (Why You Should Listen)

The podcast does not pretend to be professional. It’s an honest fun loving conversation that you get to sit in on. It’s as if you met them at a hotel on the shore and was lovingly asked to come to their room for mini fridge wine. The girls talk about sensitive topics from all ranges of sexuality and do so in a way that does not degrade themselves or others. They do not make value judgements. They speak from the heart and with great taste.

Sometimes they don’t delve as deep into things as I would like. I wonder if they hold back sometimes. But it just makes you want to listen to more.

I highly recommend. Here’s hoping they invite me on the show!

With love and respect,

From the perspective of a couple of women in their 70’s

We feel nothing but respect for Erin and Anya's conversations. They really search their souls for their own truths, don’t buy the great waves of cultural prescriptions for what we must think about relationships, and they grapple with a major cultural concept. We loved the way they dissected the Monica issue in the power episode. If anyone had ever been interested in why we engaged in any of our own sexual adventures we hope that we could have arrived at the same nuanced conclusion: holding two concepts at once. And taking responsibility for one's own role! So much more powerful than feeling victimized. Erin and Anya have their own minds and opinions and they are not going to be pushed around. We are looking forward to the next episode! Thank you Erin and Anya for putting yourselves out there!
