When I visited Sweden, bikes were everywhere and they owned the roads. There are vehicles but not so many. We rented a car to drive to Copenhagen and it was a hassle. I worked in transportation management to reduce SOV trips. Most people want OTHER people to ride the bus so that they can have the road to themselves.

Misleading title - zero discussion of why healthcare costs are out of control. Would have loved to hear Chris and guest discuss root causes of costs in American healthcare. Instead an hour about how much government should subsidize the out of control dysfunctional market.

I do not think the way to end radicalization is to stop talking about subjects. Not talking about religion and politics is a relatively recent phenomenon and more likely that’s what got us to this awful point in history than the correlation you think you identified. And as far as talking about sex goes…well, Belle Case La Follette (and surely others) advocated talking more about sex even well over a hundred years ago because they saw it as a way to improve lives. Because knowledge is power. So, no, talking less solves nothing. We need to talk more, while still being respectful, civil, and curious. It’s uncomfortable, yes, but that only because society is so out of practice. Here’s another correlation we could throw out there: we stopped talking the more saturated our lives became with entertainment and distractions. And we became so bad at it because we stopped doing it. And because we stopped talking, everyone thought we were getting the same information, but if we talked to each other, we’d realize our education and information streams are so different. That doesn’t change facts though, as the guest said. So talk more! Stay active in politics and in your communities. Vote! Talk to others about voting. And demand that our representatives repeal citizens united. And pass laws and regulations that eliminate loopholes and require more progressive taxation. Make corruption illegal again. Spell it out. Get our laws up to speed with 21st century technologies and businesses. We cannot rely on the better angels of anyone’s nature. Require critical thinking and civics education in school ( that everyone by law is required to receive) and super long shot here, but maybe even someday take a long hard look at our constitution.

Chris I listen to you on MSNBC and this Pod. Please tell the crew at MSNBC to stop saying these MAGAs will be held to account when/if Dems come to power. This is the most ridiculous notion, complete nonsense. Even if in 2028, the Dems control House, the WH and have 61 seats in the Senate the Dems will not hold any of these MAGAs accountable. We’ll get a speech that all this back and forth must stop, moreover, these people have mostly violated norms not codified laws. Convictions will be almost impossible for most of them, too many legal loopholes and tricks. Plus everyone is getting a pardon. Whomever is the next Dem POTUS will do the Lincoln dance and all will be forgotten until MAGA regains control. Rinse and repeat.
