Why Make Music…

ThinkTimm

I’ve been making music for the majority of my life, driven by the melodies and rhythms I hear in my mind and my desire to bring them to life. Music has always been my primary form of expression, something I create for my own pleasure and to share with friends, never seeking anyone’s approval. I’m self-taught, with my own unique take on music theory. My creations may have their imperfections, but I embrace them as part of my artistic journey. Though I’ve experienced being in a band, I ultimately prefer the solo creation process, relishing the total control it offers. Technology has empowered anyone to manifest their own reality, and I’ve chosen music as mine. My work is available on most streaming platforms and music leasing sites. In this podcast, I aim to showcase my creative side, sharing my thoughts, processes, and opinions on my projects, as well as my respect for music as a whole. I discuss timeless influences and explore the question, “Why make music…”—a topic I can endlessly talk about and explore. ThinkTimm… if nothing else!

  2. Why Make Music... Episode 081 - "Let The Music Speak"

    MAY 8

Why Make Music... Episode 081 - "Let The Music Speak"

This week on Why Make Music…, Willa May and WDMNation MEDIA take a different approach. No giant lecture. No deep industry breakdown. No long-form manifesto. Instead… we let the music speak. Episode 081 transforms into a late-night underground radio broadcast featuring multiple genres from the WDMNation MEDIA catalog including funk, folk-funk, indie bedroom pop, spoken word, hip-hop, R&B, atmospheric ballads, and melodic crossover records. Structured like a pirate radio station drifting through emotion, memory, groove, heartbreak, humor, and philosophy, this episode showcases the diversity and creative range behind the ThinkTimm sound. Throughout the broadcast, Willa May guides listeners through station drops, listener call-ins, emotional reflections, and musical transitions that blur the line between podcast and curated radio experience. More importantly, this episode asks a larger question: Why chase playlists… when we already became one? Behind the scenes, it’s been a major week for WDMNation MEDIA. New industry conversations opened up involving sync opportunities, production company outreach from Nashville, technology-sector discussions, and fresh momentum surrounding the growing independent catalog. Outside the studio, the entrepreneurial spirit continued as the next generation of the family started making moves through online sales and business ventures of their own. “Let The Music Speak” is less about explanation… and more about atmosphere. Because sometimes the best way to explain who you are creatively… is to stop explaining and press play. 3. Why Make Music… Episode 080 - “The Business Of Music”

    MAY 1

Why Make Music… Episode 080 - “The Business Of Music”

Why Make Music… Episode 080 – “The Business Of Music” This episode steps into the machinery behind the music—the part most creatives avoid until it becomes impossible to ignore. Inspired by the classic industry guide This Business of Music, Willa May traces the evolution of the music business from demo tapes, record labels, vinyl, cassettes, and compact discs to peer-to-peer sharing, streaming platforms, digital audio workstations, AI-assisted production, avatar performers, and the new attention economy. The central question is simple but heavy: music has always been a business, but do artists understand the business they are currently standing in? Episode 080 explores how the old gatekeepers did not disappear—they changed shape. Labels once controlled access. Now platforms, algorithms, data, and audience behavior decide what gets seen, heard, recommended, buried, or monetized. The tools became easier, but the business became faster, smarter, and more competitive. Willa May also reflects on ownership in the modern era: masters, publishing, metadata, voice, likeness, style, identity, and the growing need for artists to protect not only their songs, but the entire creative ecosystem around them. This episode also revisits the rise of AI-generated artists, synthetic charts, proprietary ranking systems, and the strange new world where algorithmic creation and algorithmic measurement can begin talking to each other. From there, the conversation moves into V-tubers, avatars, alternative platforms, and the possibilities—and risks—of extending a creative brand through digital characters. Back at WDMNation MEDIA headquarters, ThinkTimm and the team continue building with intention: releasing April Afternoon, moving forward with If I Was Your Producer Volume 10, developing sync relationships, and strengthening the one-stop catalog for future placement opportunities. The episode also includes a cultural reflection on Billie Eilish’s 3D concert film experience, performance stamina, visual storytelling, and the importance of respecting artists for their talent rather than image. From the book to now, from the studio to the algorithm, from physical records to artificial intelligence, Episode 080 brings the whole conversation home: The tools changed. The platforms changed. But the truth did not. Music has always been a business. The only question is—do you understand the one you are in? Why Make Music... Episode 079 - " No Audience Required"

Why Make Music… Episode 079 – “No Audience Required” Released: April 24, 2026 Hosted by Willa May Powered by ThinkTimm | WDMN MEDIA Episode 079 arrives alongside the release of If I Was Your Producer Vol. 10—marking 100 songs officially released and nearly 400 total creations within the WDMN MEDIA catalog. This episode steps away from the scale of recent multi-part discussions and lands in a more reflective space. “No Audience Required” explores the mindset behind consistent creation—what it means to build, think, and produce without relying on validation, engagement, or immediate recognition. Willa May revisits the early days of the podcast, including a moment when the title itself was challenged, and reflects on the decision to stay the course. From there, the conversation moves into deeper territory—examining creativity as a form of mental organization, emotional release, and long-term documentation. Rather than focusing on audience response, this episode centers on process: the weekly act of clearing the mind, shaping ideas, and continuing forward whether anyone is watching or not. Volume 10 is acknowledged not as a promotional milestone, but as evidence of a system in motion—ten songs built from consistent decisions, spanning multiple emotional perspectives and timelines. The episode also reflects on the 10-year mark since the passing of Prince, recognizing the lasting impact of consistent creative output and the value of leaving behind meaningful work. At its core, Episode 079 is about presence over performance, intention over perception, and the quiet understanding that the work itself holds value—regardless of when or how it is discovered. Key Themes: Consistency over recognition Creation as therapy and process Long-term catalog building Identity and creative independence Legacy through sustained output “Some people celebrate moments… we document momentum.” Search ThinkTimm. The catalog is there. Peace… and be wild.

    Why Make Music…Episode 077 - “ Structure Over Chaos (Part 2)"

Why Make Music… Episode 077 – “Structure Over Chaos Part Two” This episode continues the evolving three-part series exploring the transition from scattered creativity to intentional system-building. In Part Two, DJ Warm Cookies (Willa May) and ThinkTimm move deeper into the framework, expanding from Segment 7 through Segment 12—focusing on workflow discipline, metadata awareness, catalog organization, and long-term creative infrastructure. Listeners are challenged to examine their own creative habits: Are you documenting your work? Are your systems prepared for growth? Are you building something that can function beyond the moment of inspiration? 7. Why Make Music… Episode 076 - “Structure Over Chaos (Part 1)”

    APR 3

Why Make Music… Episode 076 - “Structure Over Chaos (Part 1)”

Why Make Music… Episode 076 — “Structure Over Chaos (Part 1)” What if the problem isn’t your creativity… but your lack of structure? In this episode of Why Make Music…, we break down one of the most overlooked truths in the creative process: You don’t need more ideas. You need more structure. Every creative journey starts in chaos—raw ideas, unfinished tracks, scattered thoughts, endless possibilities. But chaos is only the beginning. Without structure, nothing gets finished, nothing gets released, and nothing truly moves. This episode dives into: • Why creativity begins in chaos but must be shaped to become real • How structure turns ideas into usable, functional work • The disconnect between creators and outsiders observing the process • Why “good” is often influenced by exposure, not just quality • How oversaturation makes structure more important than ever In today’s world, creation is easy—but attention is limited. That means simply making something isn’t enough anymore. Your work has to be organized, intentional, and positioned to connect. This is not about doing more. This is about making what you already have make sense. This is Part 1 of a larger conversation. Because once you understand structure… the next step is learning how your work moves, connects, and creates opportunity. --- Shout Outs: WDMNation MEDIA Uncle E Code 3 Records --- Key Takeaway: You don’t need another idea. You need to structure what you already have. --- 🎙️ Willa May Out.
