How to Build Client Relationships That Grow Your Business

What if one of your best strategies for growing your business has nothing to do with finding more leads? In this episode of the Why Not Today? Podcast, I’m sharing a lesson that has stayed with me through more than 30 years in business: relationships matter. As I reflect on the 25th anniversary of September 11, I share what I learned about connecting with customers during a time when selling felt insignificant. That same lesson surfaced again during COVID. When circumstances changed, the answer was not to push harder for sales. It was to reach out, care about people, get creative, and stay connected. Those experiences reinforced something I still believe today. The little things matter. Remembering someone's name, sending a birthday card, checking in after a life event, writing a handwritten note, sending a referral, or creating an unexpected personal touch can strengthen relationships and build know, like, and trust. In this episode, you'll hear: • Why your existing clients and relationships may hold more opportunities than you realize • What September 11 and COVID taught me about relationship based business • Simple ways to make clients feel remembered and valued • Why checking in without asking for a sale can build long term trust • How small details can help create repeat clients, referrals, and opportunities Take a look at the people already around you. What is one small thing you could do today to make someone feel seen, remembered, or appreciated? Are You an Undercover Agent in Your Own Business?

You may be networking, posting on social media, meeting new people, and building relationships, but if someone looks you up, can they quickly figure out what you actually do? In this episode of the Why Not Today? Podcast, Leslie talks about what it means to be an “undercover agent” in your own business and why you may not need more connections. The people already in your network may simply need to better understand what you do, who you help, and what makes someone a great referral for you. Visibility doesn't mean constantly selling or becoming an influencer. It means making it easy for the right people to find you, know you, trust you, and remember you. Leslie shares why clarity is so important for referrals, how staying visible can create opportunities years later, and why you never know who may be watching and remembering what you do. In this episode, you'll hear: Why you may not need more people, but need to become more visible to the people already around youHow the 10-second test can reveal whether your business is easy to understandWhy being specific about who you help makes it easier for others to refer youHow staying visible and top of mind can lead to clients, referrals, collaborations, and opportunitiesSimple ways to make your social media profile easier to find, understand, and rememberTake the Undercover Agent Audit Look at your social media profile as if you met yourself yesterday. Can someone quickly tell: Who you areWhat you doWho you helpWhere they can learn moreThen look at your profile picture, bio, next-step link, cover photo, and recent content. Fix one thing today that makes your business easier to understand. You started your business for a reason. Don't let it become the best-kept secret.
