    Bouncing Back, with Dr. Thalia Balkaran

    Climate-related disasters are happening more and more often on Earth. And while they manifest in different forms and places, not all humans are equally at risk.  For this episode, we invited Dr. Thalia Balkaran. This wonderful woman is a Postdoctoral Research Scientist  at the National Center for Disaster Preparedness (NCDP) of Columbia Climate School.     Women, environment and poverty with Geeta Mehta

    In this episode, we invited the amazing Dr. Geeta Mehta, architect, author, co-founder and president of Asia Initiatives, co-founder of URBZ, and professor at Columbia’s Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation. Dr. Geeta Mehta is working on the intersection between architecture, urban design, environmental preservation, and sustainability. She is the developer of the concept of Social Capital Credits (SoCCs), which not only is the coolest, most incredible, impactful thing, but was also described as “the most transformative and simple idea since Mohammad Yunus launched the micro credit movement”. We discussed the importance of energizing Social Capital, the role of women in the healing of the Earth, insights and tips from Dr. Mehta, her dreams of how the future will look like, and where she finds hope.
