Wildcatdojo Conversations

Sensei Michelle

Karate is for everyone. So, join us each week for a 20 to 25 minute conversation on all types of subjects. We go from managing the distractions of daily life, through martial arts history and people, and common sense concepts to add to your self defense armor. Plus we have interviews and so much more. After spending over 40 years discussing life's challenges in a dojo, (both as a student and as a teacher) I decided it would be fun to share the conversations with everyone. And it is! We're having a great time with our guests each week thinking, talking and very importantly sharing a laugh or two along the way.

    Fathers as Warriors

In the 7 years of doing this podcast, I've never been "on time" to connect our episode to the holiday that is happening. (For those of you who might be interested - I'd need a bigger staff to pull that off.)  However, this year, this episode is about Fathers and is airing the Monday before Father's Day! Congratulations to all - us and all dad's who go the distance. I need to mention that Sensei Jay, who has a story here, has 3 sons. All of them know their dad to be amazing. But time only allowed for me to reach out to one of them. Don't be mad guys.  So enjoy this episode and get in touch to be part of our salute to Mother's as warriors. Looking forward to hearing from you.  Maybe this is the episode that motivates you to support us directly by clicking the link below. Opinions Abound on this Letter O Episode

Welcome to another Letter episode. Today we're with Sensei Derek discussing over-extension, outside blocks and more. During today's discussion we mention that it might be fun to tag an old letter episode into the notes. I decided to tag our first letter episode, which is from 2021: https://www.buzzsprout.com/477379/episodes/8108455 Also, along the way Sensei Derek brings up a great old saying: What we do alot of we become very good at. We did an episode on that. Here it is: https://www.buzzsprout.com/477379/episodes/1891706 I always think of you, the listener, when working on the show, From figuring out guests, to content, to uploads. Dexterity: Another Page From 365 Days of the Warrior

We love doing these homages to Master Kelljchian's thoughts and wisdom. This quote is directly related to weapon's dexterity. But, with Sensei Derek's help, we travel all over the place with it. (What else is new!).  I'll tag 3 episodes here. First off we reviewed Master Kelljchian's book 365 Days of the Warrior in 2021. Here's a link: https://www.buzzsprout.com/477379/episodes/7049776 Much of what we discuss relates back to self-defense. We've done a number of episodes about this subject. This one is from 2020, with Sensei Jay: https://www.buzzsprout.com/477379/episodes/3293584 And finally, we do "letter" episodes and dexterity made the cut back in 2022 during a Letter D episode. (Of course!). They're fun to hear so listen here: https://www.buzzsprout.com/477379/episodes/11170566 Each week we remind you that we have this link to support our work. If you have a moment - go for it! We appreciate our listeners. That cannot be overstated. Yogi Berra - WW 2 Vet, Baseball Great and Inventor of Yogisms

Today we talk with Sensei Jay about the great baseball player, Yogi Berra. Whenever we have Sensei Jay on there's laughter and good stories. I'm attaching a couple of other episodes that Sensei Jay recorded with us. He did an episode about his dad, also a WW 2 vet back in 2021: https://www.buzzsprout.com/477379/episodes/8329162 And since Master Kelljchian, and his individuality came up a few times in this episode. Here's an episode about him. We recorded it with Sensei Jay in 2020 https://www.buzzsprout.com/477379/episodes/2384333  Because Yogi Berra was a WW 2 vet, here's another man from that era. Coincidentally, also a Sensei Jay episode. Audie Murphy: https://www.buzzsprout.com/477379/episodes/14969721 We mention the link to support the show, here it is. Help out if you can.
