We're all familiar with the ritualized public outcry that follows mass shootings. For some reason, we marginalize the day to day shootings, and thereby put it out of our minds. In this episode, Dr. Sheets explains this phenomena as we take a closer look at the daily/weekly gun deaths. We also discuss the continuing importance of Ice Cube's 1995 classic film, "Friday".

In this episode, I interview Trae Crowder. Trae's a comedian and co-author of The Liberal Redneck Manifesto: Draggin' Dixie Outta the Dark, and he’s currently developing a sitcom with ABC. He’s best known as the “Liberal Redneck” for his hilarious and insightful social commentary, which has earned him throngs adoring fans around the country, including God himself - Morgan Freeman! Trae sat down with me for an interview while on tour in New York City. We talked about Trae’s liberal upbringing, and his personal views on parenting, spanking, guns, and whole a lot more.

After a much needed hiatus, I welcome back my co-host/life partner, Dr. Michelle Sheets. We ease into the pod with a chat about sleep schedules, and free will. We then drop the hammer and eviscerate Ohio's new anti-abortion law, which prohibits doctors from performing an abortion if they have knowledge that the woman’s decision was influenced by her belief that the fetus has down syndrome. We argue that the law is unconstitutional (of course), misogynistic (of course), and promotes incest. (yep!). Enjoy

I also chat with Professor Ann Burgess on the subject of “fetal abduction”. Ann is an internationally recognized pioneer in the assessment and treatment of victims of trauma and abuse. The phenomenon known as fetal abduction seems to defy all logic and challenges us to confront an unthinkable crime. Fetal abduction refers to the crime of child abduction by murder of an at term pregnant mother and extraction of her fetus through a crude cesarean section. Ann & I discussed criminal profiles, gender (women commit roughly 20% of violent crimes, but 95% of fetal abductions), motive ("it's more about drawing attention and cementing relationships than obtaining a baby.”, the influence of culture and social media, and legal insanity.
