So Funky!

I grew up with the Wilsons at MLDA and looked up to Dana so much. She was my Nina (listeners will understand the reference). It’s been such a joy to see Dana’s career blossom. Listening to the podcast transports me back to our studio days. Dana is the same creative, hilarious, thoughtful, and funky person she was then. I love hearing her stories and perspective. All my best, Karen P.S. I would love to see Michelle on the pod :)
Haley Fitzgerald’s episode brought you to me.

The title says it all (but I’ll say a bit more😉) Your podcast has brought me so much comfort and inspiration during a difficult time of life and the ever-challenging journey of dance (specifically becoming a professional dancer in this era), so thank you for all you (and the team) do to keep it alive. I have a long commute from my home to my weekly dance classes and I love whenever I get to listen to a new episode. Resources like this are so important for dancers, especially those new to the professional dance scene. Thank you isn’t enough!!!🤍
All the goods!

There are many gems to be found in these episodes. One I specifically want to point out was in Max Pham’s episode. They were talking about living in hotels and on busses and how it can be exciting at first. Our home has personal photos and all the things we love, but hotels are a clean slate. Sometimes it’s nice to clear the clutter and refresh. However, when this happens time after time, this blank slate starts to replace that personal touch your home has. Which is why it’s so important to keep a strong emotional and mental practice while on the road to keep you grounded in your best self. These aren’t the exact words used, but the concept really spoke to me and it was an ‘ah-ha’ moment. Thank you Dana and all the quest for sharing so much about your journeys and lessons!
Every dancer should listen!!!

I cannot stress this enough, every dancer should listen to this podcast, no matter which stage of your career you are in. Dana is an excellent host and such a well respected teacher in the industry. As an auditioning dancer, I find a lot of what is shared on this podcast helpful for me in my everyday life as an artist finding her way….especially the “Show and Prove” approach. I have also incorporated noting my “wins” on both a daily and weekly basis. There is so much knowledge and self love lessons to be learned here, in an industry that has no guide book. Love it! 10/10 would recommend.
Wow wow wow. Don’t skip this one!

In a profession rife with perfectionism and, subsequently, criticism, it can be incredibly easy to doubt the power of one’s own moral compass and intuition. Dana helps artists not only navigate these tricky waters, but sail through them with quiet confidence. I just finished listening to episode #176, (“Doubt Your Doubts”) in which Dana addresses dealing with a critique from a mentor / admired figure in your life when what they’ve expressed goes against your own beliefs. I found Dana’s suggestions incredibly applicable, incisive, and uplifting. She allows the artist to take a step back, acknowledge their own feelings, and take their mentor’s opinion with a grain of salt, WITHOUT directly criticizing or blaming either side. She instead places the focus on self-empowerment, stating “The power you reserve when you have your own back is a tremendous power” (read that again). The goal is not to choose a “right” or “wrong” side, but rather to decide what will ultimately serve you in your journey as an artist, and to go forward from a place of compassion and self-respect. Such a gem of a podcast that’s as enjoyable as it is useful. Dana is wonderful. Don’t miss it! 💫
Fantastic !

I did not know about this podcast until Dana asked me to do one. She is such a wonderful interviewer. It was like we were having a conversation over cocktails! Since my interview I have been catching up on all I've missed and have learned so much about people I know and some who are new to me. The podcasts are entertaining and educational and fun. I love that dance is the common ground for all!
Inspiring!
