I'm Barbara. My friends call me Barbie. But, don't mistake my name for the Malibu Barbie dream house fantasy. In fact, I don't have a picture perfect reality and instead live a life of never-ending, existential questions like, "is this the job for me?," "do I want to be here?," or "am I happy?"

In this global, podcast I speak with ordinary, extraordinary people in their 20s. Yes, millennials but all ages are welcome to listen. All topics are on the table.

You're Always Transitioning, Diversity Is Not Race, & Non-linear Paths

Meet Caiden, or "CJ," as they are called among their friends. They live in Ohio, but lets look past that minor detail as their story begins the moment they came out. I'm using such pronouns because Caiden is a 24-year-old, trans non-binary person. In conversation with Caiden, we speak about how diversity does not always mean race, how we are ALL transitioning, and how this conversation teaches us the importance of "us and them." This... is Caiden's story.

Lauren lives in Miami, Florida, but has always lived a life of "emotional awareness." Some of you listening might wonder, "I'm emotionally aware. What is Barbie talking about?" In my conversation with Lauren, we talk about this generation, which we call the "therapy generation" where we're all started to feel more comfortable discussing mental health but are we really seeing a benefit? Unconventional Interviews — great facilitator!

I listened through a couple of Barbara’s interviews, and I love that she is willing to have unconventional conversations and facilitate when needed, especially in this last episode between the ex’s. Keep up the good work!

A voice to be heard

I enjoyed listening to Barbara’s conversations with her guests. She’s not afraid of being herself and bring a fresh perspective to different topics. As a mom, it is a window to new ideas and views that I can use and pass along to my kids. Being a young Latina or Latino in the United States comes with some challenges, and it’s through conversation that we can make this challenges a little easier to overcome. A special shout out to Maciel, one of her guests, for being so honest and transparent about the issues a young, ambitious and bilingual Latina goes through growing up in the U.S. Keep up the good work Barbara, you have a voice an people are listening!
