WORK In Progress

WORK Training Studio

Work in Progress is a podcast from the team behind WORK Training Studio, a family-run gym in Meridian, Idaho that specializes in large group training. Hosted by co-owners Madi, Megan and Jeff, the show pulls back the curtain on what it actually takes to build something real: in the gym, in business, and in life. Madi is an owner of the original WORK Training Studio in Irvine, California, who relocated her family to Idaho in search of a better quality of life, and has taught over 7,500+ sessions in her career. A fierce competitor, she utilizes her background in cross country to dominate in any endurance endeavor...including her latest obsession- HYROX. Megan runs a successful real estate practice while co-owning the studio, bringing her dance, pilates and previous studio manager experience to the WORK team. Jeff is a 20+ year firefighter with the LAFD and splits his time between running WORK in Idaho and running calls for the fire department in Los Angeles. Together they bring three different lanes into one conversation: training and performance, entrepreneurship, and the discipline it takes to keep all of it moving forward. Expect episodes on strength and conditioning programming, common myths and fallacies of different training regimens, HYROX-specific training and race prep, the business side of owning a gym, coaching philosophy, and the invisible mindset work that leads some to fail and others to soar. Conversations get technical, breaking down training protocols, periodization, and what actually WORKs... Others are more personal: balancing family, faith and ambition, or the reality of running a small business while chasing your own goals. This is a real look at what progress costs, the setbacks, the wins, and everything in between. Whether you’re building your own business, trying to stay consistent with your goals, training for your first HYROX event, struggling to juggle WORK and home life...WORK In Progress has a little of it all. HYROX: The Good, The Bad...and the 💩 | Episode 5

HYROX is exploding for a reason, but is it actually worth the hype?  Jeff, Madi, and Megan break down why this fitness competition has become so addictive, what makes it feel so accessible to everyday athletes, and why thousands of people are lining up to race, spectate, and come back for more. After sending 60 athletes to Salt Lake City, the team zooms out beyond the event recap to unpack the real draw: the electric atmosphere, the low barrier to entry, the repeatable race format, and the rare chance to do something hard with your whole crew cheering you on.  They also get honest about what the live experience does well, where it gets crowded, and why the brand has become such a powerhouse in the fitness space. They also tackle the bigger question behind the trend: why adults are craving more community, more accountability, and more opportunities to be cheered on for doing hard things. From podium finishes to beginner wins, this episode makes a strong case that HYROX is about more than racing - it's about momentum, identity, and proving to yourself that you can do hard things.  Essential listening if you're curious about HYROX, thinking about signing up, or wondering why everyone suddenly seems obsessed.
