Celebrity Encounters, Summiting Utah & a Magical Mystery Birthday Tour

Celebrity Encounters, Summiting Utah & a Magical Mystery Birthday Tour

Workationing has a new Gringa! Ashley Osmond is introduced to the podcast audience as the new co-host. She comes in hot with stories of her appearance as “Kate” on The Celebrity Apprentice and her high-profile family (she’s related to Donny and Marie Osmond).

Kari met Ashley at a friend’s houseboat party in Amsterdam about a year ago, and the ladies became fast friends – and soon to be travel companions (The Workationing Podcast is going to Goa, India!).

An experienced solo traveler, Ashley came into the digital nomad lifestyle by teaching English, and has since moved into remote recruiting work. Her company recently co-hosted an event with the Summit Institute in Utah, and she talks about the value of in-person networking at events.

While Ashley was in Utah, Kari was coordinating a Magical Mystery Birthday tour that took her through 7 countries in 3 days: Turkey, Germany, The Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, France and Switzerland.

The birthday tour ended at a chalet nestled in the French Alps, overlooking Lake Annecy. Heads up: if you’re looking for a party theme that slays on Insta, “Stupid Formal” is where it’s at.

Ashley had to figure out what to do with her dog while she’s in India, and the Workationing Facebook group came through for her in a big way: somebody recommended Trusted Housesitters, and the problem was solved.

Several people in the Workationing group are able to live the digital nomad lifestyle by getting free housing in exchange for watching other people’s pets while the homeowners are out of town. Ashley’s working it the other way

    Harsh Truths from Your Gringas

    Harsh Truths from Your Gringas

This one is mostly for the ladies, but guys, there’s lots for you to learn here, too. On this episode Kari and Kelly are talking about some of the harsh truths that they’ve come across while doing this whole intentional living thing.

One of the harshest of these truths is that what you look like actually does matter — and not just in some abstract way. It actually affects every part of your life from how you are perceived by others (do they think you are likeable, trustworthy, and competent?) to how much you make in your lifetime (attractive people make $250,000 more).

This is not what two ladies who make a point to work from home in yoga pants want to hear — especially because looking good requires a lot of time and money. Kelly and Kari talk about the dollars and cents of being an attractive lady including the cost of makeup, regular mani/pedi’s, and hair maintenance. It really adds up! And that doesn’t even include the time cost, which for for two busy, ambitious ladies can be the hardest part.
Kari and Kelly also talk about how much ridiculous levels of alcohol consumption is normalized in our culture, and how people tend to be hesitant to talk to a friend when they see them taking things a little too far.
This episode wasn’t a fun one for the gringas, but it’s important. And if your gringas won’t tell you the truth, who will?
PRODUCTION NOTE: Traveling with audio equipment is challenging, and Kari’s mic cord seems to have been on the fritz during this episode. It’s still listen-able and this was too good of a conversation to not post, but if you’re wondering what’s up with the audio — well, that’s what’s up.

Ep 1: The New Hampshire Hotel Room

I stumbled upon this podcast through a Facebook group I’m in & wow! These women are literally telling me how to do what I’ve been timidly pondering for years! And the nuggets of wisdom & inspiration are dropping in loads yet it feels like casual conversation...easy to listen & follow.
So grateful these 2 Powerhouses are willing to share like this!
