Episode 65: More Than the Game: How Coaches Shape Confidence, Character, and Life Skills

Youth sports are often about more than learning the game. They are opportunities for children to build confidence, resilience, and life skills that extend far beyond the court or field.  In this episode, Denise reflects on the powerful role coaches play in shaping not only athletic ability, but also character, communication, and courage. She shares a personal moment with her daughter Sydney, who became emotional when Denise’s coaching style felt direct and firm on the court- a reminder that growth often requires learning how to hold both encouragement and challenge at the same time.  This conversation explores how great coaches:  Build confidence by recognizing effort and celebrating progress  Teach kids how to make eye contact and communicate clearly  Encourage children to stand up for themselves respectfully  Help young athletes take initiative instead of waiting to be told what to do  Show kids how to handle correction without tying it to their identity  Create environments where mistakes become opportunities to grow  Denise also reflects on the balance between being supportive and being honest,  and why lifting up the “good jobs” matters just as much as helping kids develop discipline and responsibility.  Because the lessons children learn from coaches don’t stay in sports- they shape how they show up in friendships, classrooms, leadership roles, and eventually in their adult lives.  When coaches focus on developing the whole person, the impact lasts far longer than any season.  Connect with Denise of Working Moms Redefined:    Catch full episodes and subscribe to The Working Moms Redefined Podcast on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@WorkingMomsRedefined    Click here for the 9 Minutes a Day for a Lifetime of Connection Masterclass!     Listen to The Working Moms Redefined Podcast on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, iHeart Radio and Amazon Music. Episode 64: Behind the Microphone: Roles are Reversed for an Unfiltered Conversation with Jeremy Tallcott

What happens when the microphone turns and the host becomes the one answering the questions? In this episode of Working Moms Redefined, Denise is joined by her husband, Jeremy, for a candid, unscripted conversation that offers a deeper look into motherhood, marriage, and the mental load so many women carry.   Through thoughtful questions and honest reflection, this episode explores what it really looks like to balance work, family, and personal growth… without pretending to have it all figured out.  Together, they dive into:  The challenges of motherhood, including unlearning past patterns and navigating perfectionism   The invisible mental load many women carry and the importance of asking for help   How communication in marriage evolves, especially around expectations and support   This episode is equal parts insightful and lighthearted, with moments of humor, honesty and real-life perspective. It’s a reminder that growth happens in conversation, that support starts with communication, and that you don’t have to do it all alone.  Because sometimes the most powerful thing you can do…is ask for what you need. Click here to download Questions to Ask Your Partner!  Listen to The Working Moms Redefined Podcast on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, iHeart Radio and Amazon Music. Episode 63: Stop Living in Reaction Mode: Organization, Mental Load, and Why So Many Women Feel Behind with Lisa Woodruff

So many working moms feel like they are constantly behind- juggling responsibilities, managing invisible tasks, and trying to keep everything moving forward, all while wondering why it still feels so heavy.  In this episode, I sit down with Lisa Woodruff, founder of Organize 365, to talk about the real reason so many high-capacity women feel overwhelmed, and why organization is about so much more than containers, checklists, or doing more.  Lisa’s work focuses on helping busy women develop practical systems for managing home, paper, and life so they can reclaim time for what they are uniquely created to do.   Together, we explore:  Why capable women often feel like they are doing everything right but still feel behind  The hidden mental load many women carry that often goes unseen or unacknowledged  The difference between perfectionism and becoming a “woman of excellence”  Why organization is a learnable skill- not a personality trait   How creating simple systems can actually create more mental space and freedom  Lisa’s approach emphasizes progress over perfection and helps women build systems that support real life, not an unrealistic standard. This conversation is for the woman who is tired of feeling scattered, behind, or mentally overloaded and ready to create structure that actually supports the life she wants to live.  Because organization isn’t about doing more- it’s about creating space for what matters most.  Connect with Lisa  Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/organize365/  Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/Organize365   LinkedIn:  https://www.linkedin.com/in/lisawoodruff/   Website and Sunday Basket info : https://organize365.com/escapingquicksand/   Connect with Denise of Working Moms Redefined:    Catch full episodes and subscribe to The Working Moms Redefined Podcast on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@WorkingMomsRedefined    Click here for the 9 Minutes a Day for a Lifetime of Connection Masterclass!       Listen to The Working Moms Redefined Podcast on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, iHeart Radio and Amazon Music. APR 9

Episode 62: What’s Really Holding You Back: (It’s Not Your Work Ethic) with Amy Kemp

High-capacity women often believe that if they work a little harder, try a little more, or push through one more challenge, things will finally fall into place. But what if the real barrier isn’t effort… it’s our thought habits?  In this episode, I sit down with leadership coach and author Amy Kemp to talk about the subconscious thought patterns that quietly shape our decisions, our confidence, and the way we show up in work, motherhood, and life.  Amy shares insights from her book I See You and her work coaching hundreds of female leaders on how to recognize the internal narratives that keep us stuck, even when we’re doing all the “right” things.  In this conversation, we explore:  Why you can’t outwork your thought habits  How high-achieving women unknowingly sabotage their own progress  The power of recognizing and replacing subconscious thought patterns  Why boundaries, rhythm, and even play matter more than we think  The invisible weight of unpaid labor many women carry  This episode is for the woman who feels capable, driven, and committed but sometimes wonders why things still feel harder than they should.  You may not need to work harder. But you may need to think differently.   Connect with Amy  Website: www.amykemp.com   Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/amykempinc/  Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/amykempinc  LinkedIn: linkedin.com/in/amykempinc   Link to Purchase I See You: https://www.amazon.com/See-You-Guide-Women-More-Without/dp/1774584425/ref=sr_1_1  Take the FREE Habit Finder Assessment here: https://amykemp.com/habit-finder-assessment/    Connect with Denise of Working Moms Redefined:    Catch full episodes and subscribe to The Working Moms Redefined Podcast on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@WorkingMomsRedefined    Click here for the 9 Minutes a Day for a Lifetime of Connection Masterclass!     Listen to The Working Moms Redefined Podcast on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, iHeart Radio and Amazon Music. APR 2

Episode 61: Redefining Hard: Why Doing Less Might Be the Strongest Choice You Make with Denise Tallcott

For a long time, many of us believed “doing hard things” meant pushing more, achieving more, and carrying more responsibility - often at the expense of our peace, presence, and relationships.  But what if hard doesn’t always look like hustle?  In this solo episode, Denise shares a perspective shift that many high-capacity women are beginning to feel but haven’t always had language for: sometimes the hardest thing isn’t doing more… it’s choosing to do less.  We explore what it looks like to redefine strength in this season of life:  Moving from proving yourself to being present  Letting go of the pressure to always say yes  Learning that boundaries are not limitations, they are clarity  Recognizing that being where your feet are requires courage  Understanding that doing fewer things with intention often creates more impact  This conversation is an invitation to reconsider what “hard” really means and why saying no, slowing down, or choosing alignment over achievement may actually be the bravest leadership decision you make.  Because sometimes the strongest women are not the ones doing the most… they are the ones doing what matters most. Episode 60: When the Birth Plan Falls Apart: Faith, Surrender, and Holding Gratitude with Grief with Jen Duesterhaus

Birth stories don’t always unfold the way we imagine. even when we plan carefully, pray intentionally, and prepare thoroughly.  In this episode, I’m joined by Jen Duesterhaus, mom of three, nurse practitioner student and business owner, to talk about her very different birth experiences- and the ones that didn’t go according to plan. After hoping for a VBAC and approaching this pregnancy with a calm, faith-filled mindset for baby #3, she found herself facing unexpected turns and the difficult tension between control and surrender.  Together, we talk about:  How each of her three birth experiences shaped her differently  Why a VBAC felt important emotionally, physically, and spiritually  What it’s like when a carefully held plan starts to unravel  Navigating disappointment while still feeling deep gratitude  Learning to hold grief and faith at the same time  How surrender in birth reshaped her view of control in motherhood and life  This conversation is for the mom who feels like her birth story didn’t go “right.” For the woman still carrying quiet disappointment alongside overwhelming gratitude. For anyone learning that trusting God doesn’t always mean getting the outcome you hoped for.  Jen’s story is honest, reflective, and deeply reassuring: you can trust God and still grieve what you lost. You can be grateful and still wish it had gone differently. Both can exist at the same time.  Connect with Jen  Facebook:  https://www.facebook.com/jendues11   Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/jenfarmwife   Connect with Denise of Working Moms Redefined:    Catch full episodes and subscribe to The Working Moms Redefined Podcast on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@WorkingMomsRedefined    Click here for the 9 Minutes a Day for a Lifetime of Connection Masterclass!     Listen to The Working Moms Redefined Podcast on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, iHeart Radio and Amazon Music. Episode 59: Parenting Without a Blueprint: Breaking Cycles and Building What You Never Had with Allison Housewright

Some parents are raising children without ever having been shown what healthy parenting looks like. No blueprint. No example. No consistent support.  In this episode, we talk with Allison Housewright about what it means to parent while healing to give your children emotional safety, consistency, and tools you may not have received yourself.  We explore:  What “parenting without parents” really means  The emotional weight of breaking generational cycles  Raising kids while navigating your own healing  What it feels like to parent 24/7 without built-in support  Why community may be the missing piece for so many families  We also talk about the idea of building local support circles for parents who are striving to do better, even with limited resources and little outside help.  This conversation is for the parents who are determined to give their children more than they were given, even when it feels lonely, exhausting, or uncertain. Episode 58: Healing the Past to Live Fully Today with Therapist Sara Semenick

As we celebrate one year of Working Moms Redefined, we’re revisiting one of our powerful early conversations with Therapist Sara Semenick. This episode remains just as meaningful today as it was when it first aired, offering insight and encouragement for anyone navigating growth, healing and the many roles that come with motherhood and career.  Sara brings her passion for helping women understand how past experiences and stored stress can influence how we show up in our daily lives. Drawing from her background in multiple therapeutic approaches, including NET Therapy (Neuro Emotional Technique), she explains how the mind and body work together and how greater self-awareness can help us break patterns that may be holding us back.  The conversation also explores the importance of understanding our personal motivations, family influences and the deeper “why” behind our behaviors. Tools like the Enneagram can offer helpful insight into personality and decision-making, while open conversations about mental health help normalize the idea that growth and healing look different for everyone.  Throughout the episode, Denise reflects on her own journey as a working mom, businesswoman and lifelong learner, sharing how self-discovery is an ongoing process. The discussion highlights how intentional reflection, meaningful relationships and personal accountability can help us become cycle breakers for ourselves and our families.  If you’re revisiting this episode with us or listening for the first time, we hope this conversation reminds you that growth takes time, self-awareness is powerful and every step forward matters.    Connect with Sara Semenick of Deeper Roots Counseling:   Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61552973679755   Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/deeperrootscounselingmft/   Website: https://deeperrootscounselingmft.com/     Enneagram Test Link: https://assessment.yourenneagramcoach.com     Book Suggestion: “The Body Keeps Score.” https://www.amazon.com/Body-Keeps-Score-Healing-Trauma/dp/0670785938/ref=asc_df_0670785938/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=693449522341&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=16785464844668993613&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9022417&hvtargid=pla-436114357585&psc=1&tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=693449522341&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=16785464844668993613&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9022417&hvtargid=pla-436114357585&psc=1     Additional Book Links on Sara's Website: https://deeperrootscounselingmft.com/services     NET Therapy Example in the Referenced Grey’s Anatomy Episode: https://youtu.be/EJP8t2lv_vY?si=xijKD8aTyr6qsn9E     Connect with Denise of Working Moms Redefined:     Catch full episodes and subscribe to The Working Moms Redefined Podcast on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@WorkingMomsRedefined    Click here for the 9 Minutes a Day for a Lifetime of Connection Masterclass: https://www.workingmomsredefined.com/9-99-9-minutes-landing   Listen to The Working Moms Redefined Podcast on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, iHeart Radio and Amazon Music.
