Go-Getter women sharing stories of growth, grit & God's grace to encourage and equip you to act courageously in your calling.

    What is your dream opportunity?

    What is your dream opportunity?

    Steps to move past comparison:
Return to the vision. You need a visual reminder.
Pray for discernment about what is a longing for something God wants for me and what is me coveting what was meant for someone else.
Seek wise counsel from (friends, family, mentors, coaches) those who know what you’re feeling, they’ve navigated this road before and they can help you with your perspective. The answers to our desires often take on a different form than we expected.
Work your plan. Get busy with the work God is calling you to. Look for those people who run beside you to see it fulfilled.

Added to this personal reflection are stories of empowered women from the Bible. Jo then calls on readers to invest in the next generation of women and build new communities where diverse female leadership can flourish.

*BONUS EPISODE* Grief and Loss: Q & A with LaSandra Hutchinson

After 20 years of friendship and 13 years of marriage, LaSandra Hutchinson experienced the sudden loss of her husband in October 2017.  At the time, her children were 11, 10, 8, and 6 years old. Eager to learn all she could about grief and to rebuild a powerful life for her and her children, LaSandra began researching grief and sharing her new understanding, her faith, and her grief journey on YouTube, through public speaking, and through writing. She wanted to give a transparent look into grief in a way that resonated with others and that brought hope. Through these steps, Grace & Grief was born. Grace and Grief is an initiative that provides support, community, and inspiration to help others grow through grief and live boldly after loss.

This is part 2 of a 2 part conversation. In part 2 LaSandra answers listeners' questions.
Some questions addressed in this episode:
How do you support a family member who chooses to sit in their grief? Is there an acceptable time frame for the grieving process? How does a grieving person keep the negative energy from consuming him/her? Practical ways to support a person who is grieving. For instance, “I hope they were saved.” “Rejoice, you know you will see them again.” The role of counseling in the grief and healing process How children process grief and loss How holidays are impacted by loss ****

Grief and Loss: Questions of the Heart with LaSandra Hutchinson

Grief and Loss: Questions of the Heart with LaSandra Hutchinson

What does it mean for God to be good?
This common question is at the heart of what many of us will wrestle with when we experience some form of loss in our lifetime.
Our guest, LaSandra Hutchinson is going to help us uncover how grief and loss has impacted our relationship with God. LaSandra is a speaker, writer, content creator and advocate for the rights and well-being of women and girls. She began her work in the non-profit sector as a teenager, spearheading a youth-led initiative in which she designed and implemented violence prevention programming to empower young women in Chicago. She has continued that work as a domestic violence advocate and currently builds awareness of the issue by providing domestic violence training and strengthening community partnerships through her with South Suburban Family Shelter, an organization that provides comprehensive domestic violence services in Illinois.
After 20 years of friendship and 13 years of marriage, LaSandra experienced the sudden loss of her husband in October 2017.

    In this episode we discuss…
The connection between her work as a domestic violence advocate and a grief coach What it means for God to be sovereign What to expect in the grief process How grief support helps us confront our loss of identity and how we can grow through grief and loss This is part 1 of a 2 part conversation. The Intersection of Faith & Politics with Sarah Anderson

The Intersection of Faith & Politics with Sarah Anderson

In today’s episode we’re discussing two topics we’re told never to talk about -- religion & politics. We're, specifically, talking about the intersection of faith and politics and how do we unify when the stakes feel so high in this year's election.
Our guest for episode 80 of the podcast is Sarah Bauer Anderson. Sarah has spent her entire life learning to live in the tension both politics and religion create, striving to best navigate the complicated issues and emotional conversations around these weightier topics. Raised in a family of politicos, including a former Republican presidential candidate father (Gary Bauer), Sarah shares her story and what she’s learned in her latest book, The Space Between Us: How Jesus Teaches Us to Live Together When Politics and Religion Pull Us Apart.
She has been involved in ministry since 2003 and uses her skills as an avid communicator, writer and author, to combine her passions in order to instill positive faith in teens, parents and ministry influencers. Sarah is the lead content creator and writer for XP3 High School curriculum from Orange, a nonprofit organization with a mission to instill positive faith and influence parents and ministries to influence the next generation.

    In this episode we discuss…
Principles Sarah's political and religious family have learned about navigating political discussions that might help you restore relationships with your friends and family Why beliefs like 'we have to agree with every issue a candidate stands for to publicly support them' are driving us apart How our limited view of Jesus is hindering contributes to our lack of civil discourse around religion and politics The importance of posture over position Why nuance gets lost in our political discussions online How we honor our Christian faith in voting without standing in condemnation of others for their differing views Before you go...
Join us the day after the election on Wed, 11/4 at 6pm MST/7pm CST for a candid conversation among a group of multi-generational, multi-ethnic women exploring how we find unity following the 2020 election season.

    Demystifying Purpose with Nicole Salmon

    Demystifying Purpose with Nicole Salmon

For the month of September where we will be talking about demystifying purpose. My conversation with Nicole Salmon centers around defining purpose and gaining clarity about your purpose.

When we’re unclear on our calling, we feel stuck and left behind. In today’s conversation, my guest Nicole Salmon helps us demystify “purpose” by revealing the one mindset shift we must make to be fruitful in every season of life. Tune in throughout September as we continue this monthly series on clarifying our purpose.
Purpose coach Nicole Salmon has worked with some pretty inspiring and powerful women over the years. You know the type. Fierce, has it all together and going places? Well at least to the public she is. But in her private life she is also unraveling and not clear about her next move. Why do they end up at her door? Because birds of a feather flock together. If the quest for finding your purpose has left you feeling stuck or left behind, you’re in the right place. In today’s episode, Nicole invites us to reject the idea that purpose is a destination, so that we can begin living from purpose, adapting it as our lifestyle.
    In this episode we discuss…
The dark seasons that leave you feeling like purpose is over & how God uses them to propel you into His purposes for your life. The grace of God that overrides shame’s intent to silence and muzzle your calling.  Walking in your calling as a believer by putting “purpose” into the proper perspective. Following Purpose’s breadcrumbs in your life to rediscover and exercise your God-given gifts right where you are.  ***
    Words to Remember…
“Your mistakes do not void your purpose.”  – Nicole Salmon “The question is not: What do I want to be? But: What do I want to do? I already am somebody.” – Nicole Salmon “If the only time you are great is when your title is great, that’s not greatness. That’s a show.” – Nicole Salmon “Time doesn’t clarify your purpose. Movement made toward your call in faith does. You will squint at purpose from afar until Jesus returns.” – Nicole Salmon Show Notes
