A political icon, made famous after tragedy struck his family… A renowned scientist whose invention made humanity a truly interstellar species… A practitioner of Indexing from the mysterious Saito Institute… A special operative and veteran of humanity’s only war in space… Tonight is the night that the crew of the Minerva Project will finally be announced to the world. Two and a half centuries into our future, humanity has just survived its first interstellar civil war. On one side is Earth and its unified Republic, founded on the principles of solidarity and progress. On the other is Aventine, humanity’s first planetary colony and part of the nearby galactic region known as the Verge—home of all known planets beyond Earth that support human life. In the aftermath of the war, every planet in the Verge faces a choice: to either rejoin the Republic and Earth’s vision for a united humanity, or to claim independence and chart their own path forward. As the vote in the Verge approaches, Earth’s new president has announced the Minerva Project, a mission to support our former colonies and prove to them the value of unity. But as tensions rise throughout our corner of the galaxy, the mission seen by most as a political ploy is overtaken by a threat to humanity’s future among the stars.
