when food becomes coping: binge eating, inner child healing, and recovery with ronni robinson

n this episode, I sit down with Ronni Robinson, a certified eating disorder recovery coach and author of Out of the Pantry: A Disordered Eating Journey. Ronni spent 30 years struggling with binge eating before finding her way to recovery over 17 years ago. We explore how coping mechanisms like binge eating often develop in childhood as responses to emotional needs that weren't being met. Not from major trauma necessarily, but from the everyday experiences of not being emotionally seen or heard. The moments that taught us our feelings weren't safe or acceptable. Ronni shares honestly about how food became a way to control something when everything else felt out of control. How it consumed her thoughts, her social experiences, her entire life. And how recovery wasn't about diets or willpower, but about finally addressing the wounds underneath. This conversation is for anyone who has ever used something external to cope with something internal. Whether it's food, alcohol, work, perfectionism, or people-pleasing, the pattern is the same: we reach for something outside ourselves because we never learned we could handle what's inside. If you're ready to understand your own patterns with more compassion, this episode will meet you where you are. facing what's real: i will no longer be silently complicit

I am heartbroken. The country I was sold is a farce. The Epstein files are showing us just how deep the corruption goes. I'm disgusted—not surprised, but disgusted. As an SA survivor, this moment is incredibly triggering. Even the commentary on the files brings a surge of helplessness to my system. As an empath, I feel the pain of the victims. As someone who has survived my own trauma, it all comes flooding back as though it's happening in real time. Watching American citizens executed in the streets. Young children used as bait to capture their immigrant parents. Families torn apart. It's too much for my system. And I know that's exactly what they want. This is their strategy—flooding the zone to overwhelm us so we can't keep up, so it becomes normalized. I refuse to let any of this become normal. I refuse to stay silent and complicit. In this episode, I share where I'm at: stuck in freeze, overwhelmed with grief, struggling to understand how anyone can look at another human being and feel superior to them. And I share what I'm learning about protecting ourselves so that we can show up—because we need to show up. We need to gather in community, hold each other, and find our light together. If we isolate. If we hide. If we shut down—they win. I'm inviting you to gather with me on Sunday in my women's circle, Sacred Space Annapolis. Pay what you can. If you are unable to pay anything, please email me at tina@intuitive-soulutions.com. This isn't about a sale. It's about building a community that holds one another through this. Our democracy, our freedom, everything is on the line. Follow me on Instagram @iamtinamelendez Come sit with me in meditation. when grief becomes an awakening: tracy laskos on coming home to yourself

What happens when life doesn't follow the script you were handed? When loss cracks you open and forces you to ask: who am I without all these roles, all these expectations, all these stories I've been told about who I'm supposed to be? In this episode, I sit down with Tracy Laskos, author, conscious leadership advisor, and founder of Wings of Truth, to talk about the seasons of unraveling we all go through, and what it means to come home to yourself when everything else falls away. Tracy shares her journey through profound loss, including losing her mom while she was a new mother herself. She talks about how grief became an awakening rather than something to overcome, and how that loss pulled back the veil and opened her to a deeper spiritual path. We dive into shadow work and what it really means to integrate rather than eliminate parts of ourselves. Tracy offers this beautiful reframe: the darkness is required for the light to be seen. We also explore leadership through vulnerability, the metamorphosis process, and what it means to witness transformation—both in ourselves and in the people we love. This conversation is honest, grounded, and deeply moving. If you're in a season of unraveling, if you've ever felt like life was asking you to let go of who you thought you were so you could become who you actually are, this episode is for you. Tracy recently published her first book, The Spark Within: An Authentic Journey Home, which weaves her personal story with journal prompts and reflection points to support your own healing journey.
