    Episode 8: Halifax Disaster

In this episode, hosts Kitty and CC delve into the catastrophic Halifax Explosion of 1917, a tragic event that resulted from a collision between two ships in Halifax Harbor during World War I. The Mont Blanc, laden with explosives, collided with the IMO, leading to a massive explosion that devastated the city, killing approximately 1,900 people and injuring thousands more. Kitty provides a vivid recounting of the events leading up to the explosion, the immediate aftermath, and the long-term effects on the community, including the challenges faced by survivors and the systemic injustices that followed. The discussion also touches on the historical significance of Halifax and its strategic role during the war, as well as the lessons learned in maritime safety and urban planning that emerged from this disaster.
