I started listening to this cause I was homesick and needed familiar voices, and this scratched that itch beautifully for me. It’s lovely to hear about the writing process from experts but I’m not a writer myself. However I have found that as a painter and printmaker a lot of the advice about art practice, creativity and vision apply just as smoothly to visual art practice. I think especially because Mr House and a lot of these guests use such visual language, the ethos is the same. Anyway, it’s a great listen for anyone with a creative practice (or anyone missing Kentucky).

Excellent interview by Silas House. With Silas’ impeccable heart coupled with anecdotes about the art and craft of writing, you cannot go wrong. Highly recommend.

What an innovative exercise for our Poet Laureate to offer those of us long removed from the classroom, who still love learning. Listening to these two writers discuss characterization and share from their process, info that will help the rest of us, felt like such a gift. I’m really happy to learn there will be a series of these and when our little writers’ group meets tomorrow night, will recommend the series of writing lessons to them as well. Thanks so much.

this is a ploy shame on you
I love this lesson on character and the new awarenesses it brought to me about the importance of character vulnerability, seeing the world through your character's eyes, knowing character's favorite song—things I had never thought of in my own writing.
Can't wait for the next lesson.
