    Y11 Audio: Step on Up (Or Move on Down?)

    Welcome to another episode of Y11 Audio! This is Ypsilanti’s college football show and the official podcast of Ypsi11.com. It’s another Saturdays w/ Coffin episode since he was free.
    (5:43) UMass is officially back in the MAC, beginning next year. This is this as much of a win for college football as much of this as a loss for college basketball?
    (19:28) Can the MAC reach 14 schools with an expansion with Western Kentucky? Any ideas for potential 14th and 15ths?
    (50:00) The video game’s coming back. We — Alex and Justin — haven’t talked about that together yet. Are we going to be too old to spend much time playing it though?

    Y11 Audio: Is Togetherness a Biggest Strength?

    Y11 Audio: Is Togetherness a Biggest Strength?

    Welcome to another episode of Y11 Audio! This is Ypsilanti’s college football show and the official podcast of Ypsi11.com. It’s another Saturdays w/ Coffin episode since he was free.
    (3:47) The MAC’s True Seniors list was finally published this week, so we take a look at how many guys from each roster got on the field as true freshmen, never took a redshirt year, and are going to finish up with their original squad. The goal wasn’t to directly compete with ESPN’s returning production percentage numbers, but it’s another way to view your MAC teams during the spring ball.
    (13:54) What’s every MAC team’s biggest strength right now?
    (34:42) The playoff expansion model to 12-teams — a version that we’ll never get to see before it even begins even though there were months of heartache over it — is changing its look. No more (not that it ever got to properly begin with) 6 highest-ranked conference champions and 6-highest ranked otherwise schools, it’s now 5 conference winners + 7 automatic qualifiers. But who cares, because now we’re being told to gear up for another round of conversations about jumping to 14 or 16-team playoffs.

    Y11 Audio: Hitting the Reset Button

    Y11 Audio: Hitting the Reset Button

    Welcome to another episode of Y11 Audio! This is Ypsilanti’s college football show and the official podcast of Ypsi11.com.
    It’s spring for some, still winter for others. Let’s hit the reset button, figuratively and literally.
    (5:38) Looking forward to the spring means grappling with what got EMU to its current point. This team basically signed two signing classes in one — hopefully that covers for how poorly last season finished. It certainly was not the kind of season a lot of people expected to see, considering how fun of a roller coaster ride 2022 ended up being.
    (19:24) The video game: College Football 2025. I cannot wait for it and I’m really excited to be the all-time winningest coach at every school I end up at in my quest to beat Nick Saban. I also can’t wait to start real-life rivalries again with my buddies.

    Y11 Audio: Buffalo Dunks with Football Hire

    Y11 Audio: Buffalo Dunks with Football Hire

    Welcome to another episode of Y11 Audio! This is Ypsilanti’s college football show and the official podcast of Ypsi11.com.
    It’s another Saturday with Justin Coffin. This week, we discuss…
    * Pete Lembo coming back to the MAC, this time as Buffalo’s head coach (13:56);
    * MAC schedules, and some of the positives (and negatives?) that the new pods-structure will bring (33:28);
    * And Justin brings a pop quiz to the table. The premise: How much money do MAC boosters really give compared to some other schools across the nation (45:36)?

    Y11 Audio: A Young MAC Head Coach Leaves For High-Level Assistant Job (Again)

    Y11 Audio: A Young MAC Head Coach Leaves For High-Level Assistant Job (Again)

    Welcome to another episode of Y11 Audio! This is Ypsilanti’s college football show and the official podcast of Ypsi11.com.
    Here’s something to look forward to this offseason: Saturday conversations between myself and Justin Coffin — formerly of Hustle Belt and MAC Football Pod fame. It won’t be every single week, but the two of us will get together for regular conversations about the MAC’s biggest topics.
    This week, we’re focusing on Maurice Linguist’s exit at Buffalo for Alabama.
    No, he’s not going to be a head coach, he’s leaving for a high-end assistant position. Is this the start of a new trend in the (arguably) wrong direction for MAC-level head coaches? Or is this the start of a very breakable cycle?
    Hopefully, MAC coaches can get more luck than what they’ve seen lately. Either way, Buffalo should feel pretty grateful for how Linguist was able to come into a difficult situation when Lance Leipold left for Kansas in late April 2021. Linguist wasn’t the Bulls’ coach until May, and right before he took the Buffalo job he was a recent hire to be Michigan’s co-defensive coordinator.

    Y11 Audio: A Gray Turf Victory

    Welcome to another episode of Y11 Audio! This is Ypsilanti’s college football show and the official podcast of Ypsi11.com.
    Eastern Michigan came back to beat Akron 30-24 in double overtime over Akron on Tuesday — the final game on the original gray turf. Also, the final game with the track around the field. Next season, we’ll see a new gray turf with Maxx Crosby’s name on it.
    Timestamps:
    0:26 — Thoughts on the Akron game, and the gray turf
    15:35 — EMU finishes the season at Buffalo on Tuesday
