In this episode Laura I.M. Green and I discuss radiology. Considering how mindfulness can improve our technique and patient experience.
Directly out of high school, at 17 years old, Laura started in college and promptly flunked out. As a single mother of 2 she returned to work on her prerequisites for dental hygiene. Once these were completed, she was accepted into the Weber State Dental Hygiene program on a full tuition waiver scholarship. In her junior year she was invited to join the Phi Kappa Phi National Honor Society. As a senior student she served as the SADHA Senior Class Representative and graduated with the Outstanding Student Award and was elected to the Sigma Phi Alpha. As a senior student, I was part of a research group that presented at the ADHA Poster session. She is the first person in my family on both sides to graduate from college.
After working as a clinical hygienist in private practice the opportunity to work in DH education came by way of a great friend in 2009. Since then she has been with the Utah College of Dental Hygiene in Orem, UT and am currently the director of the program. She loves being with her people everyday. Since 2004 she has served for the Utah Dental Hygienists' Association in several capacities including President, Treasurer, and Delegate Chair. She also has served as a co-chair of the Utah oral Health coalition.
She has the most supportive husband, 2 girls that have become beautiful women bringing their husbands into her family, 3 delightful grandchildren, and an amazing family that is all across the US.
