We really love sharing a cup of something wonderful with our friends & neighbors. We don't all vote the same way or go to the same church. We don't share the same favorite colors or drink orders at the local coffee shop. We don't always get along. But we've found that it's easier to understand someone when you sit heart to heart, cups in hand. There's room to share what God is brewing in me and what God's brewing in you - and then watch how that understanding infuses our lives. Welcome to You Brew You, the podcast.
Episode 81: Recipe Archaeology w/ Stephanie Clinton Part 2: Chopped!
Stephanie Clinton, we find out that our girl got hand picked for Food Network’s special edition of A Very Brady Chopped! (think RETRO food + the Brady Bunch + Stephanie = SO much FUN!) Listen in as Stephanie shares a behind the scenes view of her time (it takes an entire day to shoot!) on Chopped as well as what she is learning in this season of “wait and see” with Recipe Archaeology her YouTube channel w/friend Christine. Settle in for this “cherry on top” bit of “extra” with Kari & Stephanie - So many gasps and giggles, and ZERO pearl clutching!
Episode 80: Recipe Archaeology w/ Stephanie Clinton
Jill of all trades - master of many (or at least that’s what her YouTube channel proves!) Stephanie Clinton is an absolute gem living snack dab in the middle of Normand, Oklahoma. In this first heaping helping we talk social justice book club books, white privilege, book launching, YouTube-ing, grandmothers who cook and leave us recipes… girl you just have to tuck in and listen to this conversation with the precious friend of mine.
Episode 79: New Stories w/ Glenys Nellist
When Glenys Nellist invited me to help launch her newest book, “Twas the Morning of Easter,” I responded with, “Yes! Would you like to be on my podcast?” And glory be, she said YES! We had such a lovely conversation (I could listen to her read a phone book - her voice and accent are so beautiful to me!) and I found myself so thankful to have this incredible opportunity to visit with her. We chatted about the importance that story played in her own childhood, and in the lives of her children. I am honored to serve in the Father’s fields, in children’s ministry alongside absolutely wonderful folks like Glenys. And I can’t wait for you to fall in love with her voice, her writing and her heart for Jesus.
Episode 78: Learn to Bloom w/ Callie Murphy
Callie Murphy started out growing boys… five of them. And then she took up cut flower gardening… which has blossomed into a personal mission to make 50 gardeners in Houston in 2021! She may have her hands full with yours truly. When we visited via ZOOM before Texas’ Great Freeze of 2021, Callie and I talked about her gift for teaching other people the art of growing things. She is the perfect person for us to visit with in our new season “Bury the Alleluia.” (Check out the details in the episode!)
Pruning, weeding, composting - it’s all a time for God to whisper to his kids. There is so much going on underground - where God is working, growing and bringing forth life. So let’s get our hands full of the stuff that we are made of - remember we are dust.
Episode 77: Savor This Part 2 w/ Britt Carter Fisk
We sit back down today with Britt Carter Fisk and share the second half of our visit around the beautiful story that God is telling through this precious family. Both Britt and I take stock of just a few “God winks” through this whole conversation - those little things that God does to help us see his hand at work. To quote Britt, “God if you can take care of the piñatas, you’ve got this cancer and spina bifida under control!”
Join the You Brew You Crew as we spend the season of Lent (the 40 days in preparation for Easter) as we pray for, Jeremy, Britt, Carter, Peter, JohnPaul, Sophie, Genevieve, Henry, Lucy and sweet Agnes.
You aren’t going to want to miss one second of this beautiful story of God’s incredible grace and our hopes to shine brightly for His glory through all that life dishes up. We are both learning to “Savor this…” All of this.
Episode 76: Savor This w/ Britt Carter Fisk
It started with a prayer request that went something like, “Can you pray for my friend Britt’s baby Agnes?” And for the hundreds of friends of sweet Britt Carter Fisk, thousands of prayers have been raised over the last six months. The ripple effects of those prayers have turned into an absolute tsunami of love for this precious baby, her beautiful momma and their incredible family. I invite you to sit with Britt and I today, as we share Part 1 of our visit. Part 2 will drop next week! You aren’t going to want to miss one second of this beautiful story of God’s incredible grace and our hopes to shine brightly for His glory through all that life dishes up. We are both learning to “Savor this…” All of this.
Small Town Small World
I too have followed Britt’s story! But what a small world it is, that I have followed another story that is very close to your heart. Your precious parents are dental patients of the clinic where I work. I have prayed for your mother during her illness a couple of years ago! Your sister and nephews are also just precious and a few of our favorites! There might be 45 miles between Clayton and Dalhart, but our hearts are close in the Lord. Thank you for your podcast, and I look forward to listening to many more!
A Life Event
Not many people—not many couples—would have the courage to be this honest about such a life event. I won’t ever forget what a traumatic experience this was for all of us who love you! Prayer after prayer!! And the miracle of healing. Thank God! Ron, you have done a fantastic job of moving through this life-threatening experience. Keep up the good work. We all want you around for another (how old are you??). Yeah, at least that many more and then some. You are an amazing couple, and you are parenting two of the most amazing daughters!! I love you all and it is a joy and life blessing to be a part of your framily!!
Beautifully curated and so uplifting!
I love every episode but I have to say my favorite was the Genie Mack episode! Thank you for sharing all these wonderful people and their stories with us.
