    St. Sava Society Student Organization w/ Seraphim

    When new converts have a lot of zeal they often want to DO SOMETHING but they don't always know what to do. Seraphim Hook had an idea to put his zeal to work and he went and founded a student run organization at Oregon State University. The organization is called the St. Saba Society and beyond their club meetings they are involved in missionary and educational outreach, as well as charitable activities.     Mike Lacy is here to tell us about his experience with prison ministry and how you can get involved. The Lord tells us in the parable of the last judgment that one of the things that we will be judged on is whether we visited those who were sick and in prison. Today we will touch on both of these topics.Mike Lacy became Orthodox more than 20yrs ago. Before the lockdowns of 2021, he'd spent almost five years as a lay Orthodox Christian prison minister at what a Sir Trevor Howard of the BBC called "one of the most notorious prisons in the USA."     Documenting Withdrawal from Seroquel

    I've been taking the antipsychotic medicine Seroquel for over 20 years. This drug has severely impaired my ability to function in life. The side effects have gotten so bad that I'm not sure which is worse, the symptoms of the disease or the side effects of the medication. Because the side effects have gotten so bad my hand was forced to try and find an alternative treatment, and I have been using Ketogenic Metabolic Therapy as a way to treat my illness in an attempt to get off these medications. Todays stream will go over my experience with these drugs and how my attempt at withdrawal is going.     We are bringing back Nathaniel onto the channel. In his last appearance we discussed the time he spent on Mt. Athos. Touching on a similar theme, today we will be discussing the process of discerning for oneself whether they have a monastic vocation. Both Nathaniel and I have gone through this process and we both have an enduring love for the monastic habit. Nathaniel has had close contact with the monks on Mt. Athos, and he has the unique ability of being able to put those experiences into words.If you are not yet sure what your calling in life is, we invite you consider the monastic path.
