Discerning a Monastic Vocation w/ Nathaniel

We are bringing back Nathaniel onto the channel. In his last appearance we discussed the time he spent on Mt. Athos. Touching on a similar theme, today we will be discussing the process of discerning for oneself whether they have a monastic vocation. Both Nathaniel and I have gone through this process and we both have an enduring love for the monastic habit. Nathaniel has had close contact with the monks on Mt. Athos, and he has the unique ability of being able to put those experiences into words. If you are not yet sure what your calling in life is, we invite you consider the monastic path. Visit monasteries. Talk to monks. Monasticism really is the heart of the Christian church, and it would be a benefit to all to become familiar with it's ways. Even if you decide that monasticism is not the path for you, hopefully you develop an appreciation for what it means to live a life consecrated to God.Get in touch with Nathaniel: https://linktr.ee/bodilessvoiceNathaniel's YouTube channel: @puritasfidesveritas ______________________________________________________Young Penitent Links:Beard Oil: https://www.byzantinebeard.com/Telegram Announcements Channel: https://t.me/+jITpv7gWcE9hM2IxTelegram Chatroom: https://t.me/+jITpv7gWcE9hM2IxTwitter/X: https://x.com/youngpenitentDonate to Young Penitent via Paypal here: https://www.paypal.com/paypalme/youngpenitentSpotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/1MqPG5CgYnmMrQ5h8DUcSAApple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/young-penitent/id1709812607🎙️ New to streaming or looking to level up? Making the Most of Great Lent

Chuck and I became friends on Facebook and I always read his posts there with great interest. He writes brief articles covering many different aspects of Church life, and they are always well written and highly informed. Chuck has an excellent grasp of the practical aspects of church life. He has a down to earth approach to spiritual life that can benefit many, as opposed to some of the more theologically oriented digital creators which are so common in our feeds these days. You will meet Chuck where the rubber meets the road, and that is something that I appreciate about him and why I have asked him to be a guest on my channel. In todays interview we will be discussing how to make the most of Great Lent. Particularly we will focus on the hypothetical person who is new to church life and may even be going through their first season of Lent as a practicing Christian. What kind of fasting is appropriate for us? What should we adopt for our prayer rule? How about church attendance, and spiritual reading? All of these practical aspects and more will be discussed in today's interview.Chuck is a Subdeacon in the Orthodox Church.https://www.facebook.com/subd.chuckhttps://www.patreon.com/cw/subdeacon______________________________________________________Young Penitent Links:Beard Oil: https://www.byzantinebeard.com/Telegram Announcements Channel: https://t.me/+jITpv7gWcE9hM2IxTelegram Chatroom: https://t.me/+jITpv7gWcE9hM2IxTwitter/X: https://x.com/youngpenitentDonate to Young Penitent via Paypal here: https://www.paypal.com/paypalme/youngpenitentSpotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/1MqPG5CgYnmMrQ5h8DUcSAApple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/young-penitent/id1709812607Free album download: https://youngpenitent1.bandcamp.com/album/christian-rap-2

500 Days on Mount Athos w/ Nathaniel

Nathaniel is an Orthodox Christian living in Thessaloniki, Greece. He traveled from the United States to Mount Athos—with the blessing of the Holy Monastery of the Great Lavra—to explore Orthodox spiritual life and discern whether he should become a monk or remain a layman. He spent 500 days immersed in monastic life, giving voice lessons to about 40 Athonite monks to help them chant the divine services more beautifully. Over time, through prayer and spiritual guidance, he realized he was not meant to remain on Mount Athos permanently, at that time. After leaving the Holy Mountain, he moved to Thessaloniki. In obedience to his spiritual father, he teaches Orthodoxy both in person and online. He runs a YouTube channel focused on the essential aspects of the Christian faith, leads an online men’s group for those seeking to live chaste lives in the world, and sells hand-painted Orthodox icons—crafted by one of the finest iconographers in Greece—at the iconographer’s request, to the English-speaking world. He also provides coaching and healing work, supporting Orthodox Christians and others in their spiritual and personal growth.Nathaniel brings a wealth of experience, and we are grateful that he joins us in this video to share insights from his time on Mount Athos.Get in touch with Nathaniel: https://linktr.ee/bodilessvoiceNathaniel's YouTube channel:  @puritasfidesveritas  _____________________________________________________GiveSendGo campaign: https://www.givesendgo.com/streamyardsubscritionYoung Penitent Links:Beard Oil: https://www.byzantinebeard.com/Telegram Announcements Channel: https://t.me/+jITpv7gWcE9hM2IxTelegram Chatroom: https://t.me/+jITpv7gWcE9hM2IxTwitter/X: https://x.com/youngpenitentDonate to Young Penitent via Paypal here: https://www.paypal.com/paypalme/youngpenitentSpotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/1MqPG5CgYnmMrQ5h8DUcSAApple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/young-penitent/id1709812607Free album download: https://youngpenitent1.bandcamp.com/album/christian-rap-2
