Today’s teaching from ZARABEN.ORG focuses on “Tzav” (Tzvah), a Hebrew word meaning to command, charge, appoint, or set in order. RC JedidiYah explains that obedience to YHVH’s commandments—the Torah of Moshe—brings structure and order, while ignoring them leads to normalized chaos due to a lack of boundaries and submission. He emphasizes that YHVH’s voice is revealed through a specific Torah, and discerning that is essential. In contrast, following other “Torahs,” such as later religious writings, can lead people away from truth and into corruption. The teaching also highlights the meaning of the whole burnt offering, or olah, as a picture of drawing near through total surrender. Nothing can be held back—whether identity, sexuality, finances, family, work, or culture—because withholding anything is considered unrighteous. The offering, placed at the lowest and hottest part of the altar, represents humility and complete consumption. Finally, the command that the altar fire must never go out symbolizes a lifelong, all-in commitment to Torah-keeping—sustained through continual submission to YHVH. Today’s Torah reading is Tzav (Command), from Leviticus 6:8 through 8:36, along with the prophetic reading from 2 Kings 16. The Hebrew root “tsavah” carries the meaning of commanding, appointing, instructing, and setting things in order, reinforcing the central theme of disciplined, obedient living.
