    The Cost of Holding On

In this ZenEnergy reflection, Diana Zen explores the quiet cost of holding on after reality has already changed. Holding on does not always feel like holding on. It may feel like patience, loyalty, care, or responsibility. We may continue returning to an old possibility, waiting for a familiar answer, or arranging our choices around a person, role, or future that can no longer receive our care or attention in the same way. This episode reflects on attachment, memory, and the divided attention that arises when an old arrangement has ended outside us but remains furnished within. What mattered does not have to become meaningless. The feeling can remain true without becoming the reality around which we continue organizing our life. We can begin by asking: What am I still trying to keep alive? Where is my attention still moving toward what used to be there? What would it mean for care to meet the conditions that are actually present? A grounded reflection on allowing clarity to change the form of care without becoming cold or denying what was once true.
