Remember. Repent. Return. Revelations 2:1-5. 1/4/2026

As we step into a new year, Roy challenges us to examine whether we truly love God right now, not whether we loved Him in the past, but whether we are actively loving Him today. Drawing from Revelation 2:1-5, we encounter the church of Ephesus, a congregation that had sound theology, endured patiently, and tested false teachers, yet had abandoned their first love. Jesus doesn't commend their orthodoxy and leave it there; He issues a sobering warning: remember, repent, and return to the works you did at first. We're reminded that loving God means obeying Him, not just acknowledging Him. The sermon confronts our tendency to let spiritual disciplines slip away, much like relationships that fade when we stop doing the things that brought us together. Just as we wouldn't maintain a marriage or friendship by showing up once a week with minimal effort, we cannot maintain our relationship with God without intentional communication through prayer and His Word. The call is urgent: we're in a spiritual war where the enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy, yet Jesus declares His will is to lose none of us. This year, let's move beyond feelings and return to foundational practices: 20 minutes of daily Bible reading, consistent prayer, and reverence for God's commands. Revival begins when the church comes alive again, remembering God's faithfulness, repenting of spiritual complacency, and returning to the passionate pursuit of God that marked our beginning.
