    The Breaking Bad Episode

Today at our house, Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul are the ones who knock. If you’ve seen Breaking Bad you get that reference. If you haven’t seen Breaking Bad, I think you’ll still enjoy this because Bryan & Aaron are the best men you could ever meet, but just be forewarned that we do end up spoiling a lot of Breaking Bad, and a little bit of The Wire if I’m being honest. These guys are two best friends who made one of the best shows ever together. Are they better best friends than Dave and Benny? Let's look at the facts at hand. They spent years together on Breaking Bad and then started a mezcal business because they missed each other. Also Bryan is getting his shoulder replaced and he's giving the old one to Aaron. It's not a competition but we can all agree this is a best friendship operating at a very high level. We talk to them about life after being on the biggest show ever, how Bryan approached his iconic crawl space laugh, Aaron dreaming as Jesse, and Bryan & Aaron’s marriage tips. It’s one of our favorite afternoons we’ve ever had. Thanks for watching. We respect you!   This program is not affiliated with or endorsed by Sony Pictures Television, AMC, or the producers of Breaking Bad.   What happens: 0:00 intro 0:25 honoring something that deserves to be honored 1:25 staying good 2:13 the ones who knock 2:54 do you hate this or is this ok 3:14 tighty whities 4:00 some treats 4:58 nuts 5:18 benny saw the finale first 7:26 the best written pilot script ever 8:27 green light to move to ABQ 9:30 how netflix changed breaking bad 11:55 motion smoothing 12:44 starting dos hombres 15:41 breaking glass 19:23 bryan’s marriage advice 21:44 aaron’s marriage advice 22:59 making aaron think he was dying 25:08 el camino 26:33 bryan’s shoulder 27:43 living in a closet before breaking bad 30:38 salud 31:41 textural phobias 32:40 peak life 33:19 malcolm in the middle 33:45 saved by the writers’ strike 36:24 killing off beloved characters (MAJOR BB & WIRE SPOILERS HERE) 37:23 respecting the ultimatum 38:18 dave & kristin 38:51 benny & selena 40:17 an innate level of incompetence 41:47 dormant parenting instincts 45:24 now that breaking bad's over 47:36 one more question 48:32 social media 49:52 shaving your head 51:12 shaving everything 51:31 theater vs tv & film 53:58 breaking down the acting process 54:53 the crawl space laugh 57:28 instinct vs preparation 1:00:33 how taylor caught the acting bug  1:02:29 the art within you 1:03:38 no half measures 1:06:46 fun comedy 1:07:15 the breaking bad theme song 1:07:55 limited mobility 1:09:15 shohei 1:09:44 breaking bad’s greatest gift 1:11:45 you can have it all Show socials: https://www.instagram.com/friendskeepsecrets https://www.tiktok.com/@friendskeepsecrets https://www.x.com/FKSpodcast https://www.facebook.com/FriendsKeepSecrets/ https://friendskeepsecrets.com Hosts socials: www.youtube.com/@bennyblanco https://www.youtube.com/LilDickyRap https://www.instagram.com/itsbennyblanco/ https://www.instagram.com/lildickygram https://www.tiktok.com/@itsbennyblanco https://www.tiktok.com/@lildicky https://x.com/ItsBennyBlanco https://x.com/lildickytweets?lang=en https://www.facebook.com/itsbennyblanco/ https://www.facebook.com/LilDickyRap   Thank you KFC for sponsoring this episode. 5. The Truth About Coming Home As An Olympic Medalist At 14 | Tom Daley

The Truth About Coming Home As An Olympic Medalist At 14 | Tom Daley

Before Tom Daley became one of the most decorated divers in British history with five Olympic medals and five Olympic Games under his belt, he was a terrified nine year old standing on the end of a diving board, crying his eyes out and refusing to jump into the pool. Then Andy Banks, the head coach at Plymouth Diving Club, walked in and said the words that almost ended everything before it started: Tom Daley will never be a diver for as long as he'll live. In this deeply personal and unguarded conversation, the Olympic champion sits down with David Begnaud to share the story of the coach who doubted him at first, then never stopped believing in him, and how that belief carried him through bullying, loss, and the darkest years of his life. Tom opens up about the moment Andy pulled him aside at 12 years old and asked if he wanted to go to the Beijing Olympics in 2008, laying out a roadmap for a kid who would become the youngest British diver to compete at an Olympic Games at just 14 years and 81 days old. He talks about coming back from Beijing and enduring brutal physical and emotional bullying at school, getting rugby tackled in the field and threatened to have his legs broken, all while trying to process what it meant to be an Olympian in eighth grade. He shares what it felt like to lose his father to a brain tumor at 17, just one year before the London 2012 Olympics, and how his dad never cared about results, only that Tom was 18th best in the whole country even if he came dead last. He reflects on meeting Dustin Lance Black, the Oscar winning screenwriter who flew to the UK to see him, only to be told by management that dating an LGBTQ activist would be bad for his image, and how falling in love felt like one more thing he loved that the world said was wrong. There's also a raw reflection on fear, identity, and what it means to thrive under pressure. Tom talks about hitting his head twice while diving, why Andy taught him that the day you stop being scared on the board is the day something goes wrong, and how knitting became the reason he was able to win Olympic gold at the Tokyo 2020 Games. He opens up about coming out at 19 through a YouTube video because he was tired of being misquoted and feeling ashamed, why he believes vulnerability is a practice and not a destination, and how becoming Papa to Robbie and Phoenix is the role he's most proud of beyond all his Olympic medals. He shares what it's like to retire at 30 and wake up every day wondering if he could do one more Olympics in LA 2028, why there's no such thing as good luck only good preparation, and why the greatest form of activism is just living your authentic life every single day. And he reflects on what his father, who recorded everything up until two days before he died, would want the world to know. Get more stories that remind you the world is still good. You Spent Years Acting Normal Inside a Life That Never Fit | Sari Botton

Gotta love a good midlife reinvention story, and today we’ve got a great one! Sari Botton built her career editing some of the most celebrated voices in American literary nonfiction.  Then, in her mid-50s, she watched doors close in her face, turned down for jobs she was overqualified for, told by interviewers in their 30s that she had "done enough."  Out of that experience, she launched Oldster Magazine on Substack, a publication dedicated to aging honestly, at every age. It became a global phenomenon, and led to a book deal. She turned 60 and called it the best moment of her career. In this conversation, Jonathan and Sari explore: Why the most painful thing about midlife is not getting older but realizing how long you spent performing a version of yourself that never quite fitWhat it costs to live at the intersection of "should" and "whatever," and what becomes possible when you stopThe Gen X inheritance: latchkey-kid freedom, zero parenting bandwidth, and a generation that had to figure out what normal even meantWhy the best memoir illuminates the mundane, and why women claiming that territory is a quietly radical actWhat it means to be "found-ish": knowing the truest part of yourself while staying open to how life keeps changing you Sari arrived at the conversation we are having right now by surviving the wrong relationships, the wrong careers, and a deep reluctance to let herself want what she actually wanted. If any of that sounds familiar, this conversation is for you. You can find Sari at: Website | Instagram | Oldster Substack | Episode Transcript Next week, I am doing a solo episode on something I have been sitting with for a long time: the hidden resentment you are probably carrying right now, and why it might be one of the most honest things about you. It Took Me 39 Years to Realize What I’ll Tell You in 14 Min

You've been waiting for the right moment to start. For things to feel easier. For someone to tell you you're ready. But here's the truth: the pain of regret will always hurt more than the pain of failure. And the only way forward is through. This episode is 14 minutes of the lessons that took 39 years to learn. From getting fired and heartbroken to losing half a business overnight, these are the moments that built everything. The hard truths about cutting out losers, betting on yourself, and learning to smile when pressure shows up. Because winners don't avoid the fight. They get excited by it. In this episode, you'll learn: Why getting fired or pushed out is often the greatest gift you'll ever receive and how it forces you to finally bet on yourself Why losers don't like winners and how hanging around people who haven't built anything guarantees you won't either How getting into rooms where you're the dumbest person changes everything and why asking how you can help opens doors you didn't know existed The pressure test: how winners react when the vice grips them and why learning to smile when it shows up is the only way to build something real Why regret is a greater disappointment than failure and how the worst thing that can happen isn't losing, it's never trying Stop waiting.
