  2. Self-Care Is Not a Prize

    Self-Care Is Not a Prize

Self-care has been sold to us as candles, spa days, vacations, and “treat yourself” posts. And while all of that can be lovely, it can also make self-care feel like something decorative, expensive, or earned only after we have done enough. But most people aren’t walking around saying they need more luxury. They’re saying they can't remember the last time they had a good night’s sleep, or exercised, or said no. Many of us feel guilty for resting, and we don’t know what we need until we're already overwhelmed. In this episode of Right Here, hosts Christopher Mooney, LCSW and Kenyon Phillips, LMSW talk about self-care without the marketing. Not as a lifestyle brand, not as self-improvement homework, and not as another way to criticize yourself, but as basic maintenance for your body, mind, relationships, and boundaries. They explore why real self-care is especially hard for overfunctioners, parents, helpers, and anyone who learned that their worth comes from what they do rather than who they are. The conversation looks at why care often gets postponed until collapse, how “enough” becomes a moving target, and why small repeated actions usually matter more than big, dramatic overhauls. Christopher and Kenyon also offer a simple four-part frame for real-life self-care: body care, mind care, relationship care, and boundary care. That might mean getting more sleep, taking a ten-minute walk, sitting without your phone, reaching out to someone honestly, or practicing the sentence, “I can’t do that right now.” Because contrary to what social media might have you believe, self-care isn’t glamorous. Nor is it a prize for good behavior. This episode invites you to reimagine self-care as an everyday act. Because you're allowed to be a person—not just a producer, a parent, a helper, or the one who keeps the ship from sinking.

  3. Is KATSEYE "WILD" Their Best EP... or Their Worst?

Is KATSEYE "WILD" Their Best EP... or Their Worst?

KATSEYE dropped “WILD”, their third EP, and we went track by track for an honest review... and this might be the most critical we have ever been about them. We are rooting for KATSEYE….Biggest group in pop right now, a sold-out world tour, an Ed Sheeran co-write, a lost Charli XCX song reborn, and yet the actual music keeps coming up beneath what these women deserve. Chris, Chantel and guest host Jasmine break down every track from the meme-hyperpop of "Pinky Up" to the deeply divisive "Hootie Frutti," the Y2K bounce of "That Way," and Lara's self-produced bonus "Unloveu." The question we keep circling: with a machine this expensive behind them, why does so much of “WILD” sound so disposable? Sophia and Manon are both on hiatus…where do KATSEYE go from here? Michelle Chubb shares her powerful story of overcoming alcohol, Molly, and cocaine dependency through Indigenous cultural reconnection and motherhood. Michelle Chubb (known online as Indigenous Baddy) opens up about her journey through substance dependency, party culture, and social anxiety. This week the girls are back in studio and cover some casual local food spots. Plus, Priscilla’s car chooses violence, a five-star spa experience comes with a surprise $1,000 charge and some questionable massage techniques, why Arizona windshields are apparently disposable, and if boneless wings are really just wet chicken nuggies, and we debate the very specific etiquette of thong bikinis, nipple pasties, and family vacations. Then, Whine & Dine takes on AI-generated everything and the lifelong struggle of keeping your toothpaste tube clean, while Spill the Matcha gets into Alex Cooper’s latest PR move, Hollywood conspiracy theories, celebrity wedding fashion, and the important question of what exactly Timothée Chalamet is bringing to the table. The 5 systems that changed my productivity & my life forever

Today I thought we could go through the five systems that have had the biggest impact on both my productivity and my happiness. And I want to say both of those things deliberately, because I think we talk about productivity like it's separate from how we feel. In my experience, it really isn't. When the systems are right, you feel better. And the whole reason I like productivity is that it leaves more space for not working, and the fun bits!! In this clip, Drew and I get into why that four-letter label is closer to a horoscope than a science. I tell the real story of where MBTI came from: not a lab, but a mother-daughter pair working from a dining room table during World War II, building on Jung's ideas even though Jung himself warned against boxing people into types. We get into the numbers that should give you pause, like the fact that a third to half of people get a different result when they retake the test weeks later, and why it predicts almost none of the things the Big Five actually predicts. Then we get to the part that matters: why slapping a label on yourself isn't harmless fun. Labels become self-fulfilling, they turn into a responsibility shield, and an inaccurate one can have you fighting your own nature for years. Liane Moriarty is one of the most successful authors in the world — the writer behind Big Little Lies, Nine Perfect Strangers, Apples Never Fall and The Husband's Secret. Now, for the first time in her career, she's written a sequel: Big Little Truths, returning to Madeline, Celeste and the rest of the Big Little Lies world a decade on. In this conversation, Liane and Kate talk about why she avoided writing a sequel for so long, the pressure of returning to characters millions of readers already love, and the surreal experience of watching Nicole Kidman, Reese Witherspoon and Meryl Streep bring her imagination to life on screen — including the story of how she wrote a role specifically for Meryl Streep before ever meeting her. They also get into Liane's family of writers (three of five sisters are published authors), her own breast cancer scare, marriage, motherhood, writing teenagers, envy as a creative motivator, and why — even after decades of success — she still braces for criticism before a single review is written. While the conversation avoids any major spoilers, Liane and Kate do discuss Big Little Truths. Some listeners may wish to read the book in advance of listening to this episode.  Big Little Truths by Liane Moriarty is out 25th August.  Want to listen before everyone else?
