Band 9 Model Answer: INTRODUCTION Latelly, many discussions have risen whether funding for the arts in a proper use or it is better focusing on public concerns like healthcare, education, etc. It cannot be said that heath and health related services, which are most of the essential services in the country are not important, however, my perspective and the way I view the overall picture depicts the idea that the significance of the arts in nation’s ever lasting investment. BODY PARAGRAPH 1 First, support for the arts is far-reaching culturally and educationally. Artistic expression in the form of music, theatre etc. is a representation of a country and allows creativity to flourish. In other countries with less private sponsorship, many artistic institutions would not survive without government support. Furthermore, access to the arts can substantially enhance citizens' lives by promoting critical thinking, empathy and emotional intelligence; all necessary for a functioning society. Plenty of research shows that theatres perform social commentary, to which audiences attend with a reflective eye.     In many countries nowadays, consumers can go to a supermarket and buy food produced all over the world. Do you think this is a positive or negative development? BAND 8+ MODEL ANSWER: In contemporary society, the prevalence of food products originating from different parts of the globe in supermarkets has become increasingly common. This issue has presented a double-edged sword for public discussion. Some say that the availed food products help promote diversification and availability. On the contrary, I strongly believe that the consequences far outweigh the advantages. The most significant benefit worldwide food imports can confer on consumers is that they greatly increase their available options. Today, shoppers can choose from among numerous fruits, vegetables, and other foodstuffs that once, nothing could be ventured ever to be had outside their native countries. For example, supermarkets in temperate regions feature products like mangos and pineapples, foods normally native only to tropical climates. Trade in food imports certainly promotes cultural exchange; people can incorporate foreign foods into daily life, fostering a more inclusive society. Plus, a diverse supply source may introduce price competition, which can lead to lower prices and better quality goods for consumers, therefore enhancing their overall shopping experience. Notwithstanding the benefits of the system, the global sourcing of food brings many problems to the fore. For starters, there is an environmental question. Food must be flown, trucked, or shipped to faraway places. This presents a significant contribution to climate change. For example, goods imported from countries like Peru or New Zealand require airplanes or shipping vessels, engendering greater greenhouse gas emissions. Aside from that, this global system may constrain local agriculture. Small farmers are unable to compete with lower-priced imported items. And this will lower local economies alongside the losses in traditional farming practices. To summarize my thoughts on the matter; even though having access, to a range of food options, from parts of the world can broaden consumer preferences and celebrate various cultures; it's crucial to acknowledge the significant downsides it brings along with it too. Like the environmental impact of shipping food long distances and the harm caused to local economies by importing goods extensively.
