    Episode 131: Reflecting Pool

Random episote title, but not random song picks! I was going to go with Early Summer bangers as a title and then meh, that's boring, so we switch it up. A combination of straight up party jams at slot 1 and slot 3 with more abstract and quality electronic business at slots 2 and 5. All slots filled with creativity. Ya know music is both just music and it's much more than music, it's a non spoken language humans use to communicate with each other. And it's our culture, and while most Americans love them some shiny corporate pop culture we don't roll like that at The Magic Organ. Just great music is more than enough to make us all feel better. Reflecting Pool. Excerpts from this episode: Mexican Institute of Sound & Meridian Brothers: El Campeon Ital Tek: A Hidden Path Joey Quinones: Soul Steady Situation SALEM: Vampyre SHHE: Allasso Magic Tuber Stringband: Scintillation Feel free, (it's free!) to follow me on the on the social toilet called Instagram where I conversate and show my love for music as themagic_organ. I got it friggin' goin' on over there, denouncing spectacle based American culture and serving up fresh bangers as I unearth them. If you would like to help the magic organ out lay before me 5 s***s on the itunes, 5 starry s***s on the itunes I dare not dream!!! Cough it up people. Or you can email me to say how I changed your life with all this great music. Music can be social, you can have opinions, the roar of the masses are not just farts as the Minutemen used to say. I'm always open to listener suggested playlists if you feel you can hang with the host. I'll even co host the show with you and I will be super nice. I might even serve biscuits. C'mon take the bait! LFG. You can find these artists on bandcamp and streaming outlets. You can support them by listening and telling your friends. You can tell other people about this concentrated blast of new music goodness, bursting with farm fresh flavor. You can celebrate what I do and what musicians do! Let this shitass 13 minute podcast be your guiding light. God forbid. Episode 130: Hip Hop Explosion

I'm listening to the beginning part of Drake's new record Iceman while I write the blurb for this episode and Lord it must be hard being Drake, he still seems shook in the wake of being cooked by Kendrick Lamar. The sounds are all right but the lyrics, oy. And that cover image has to be a Michael Jackson reference which I don't get at all. I wholeheartedly recommend the first three records featured at the front of this episode and the rest of the tracks are no slouch either. Once again showing that the real action in music is below the superstar level where the narcissistic douchebags primp and preen while real musicians make music. All three of these hip hop records have a lot of soul, Drake I'm not really sure. If you can handle Archspire's extreme tempo and aggressiveness they deliver the goods, I think what they do is very unique and super beautiful in its way. So there ya go, the Magic Organ is always multi-genre and banging, if you feel like getting in touch go for it, I'm super friendly. Excerpts from this episode: By Storm & Injury Reserve: Can I Have You For Myself? Stik Figa: No Secrets Isaiah Rashad: The New Sublime Octo Octa: Just Listen Archspire: Carrion Ladder Canes Of Karabakh: Sevan The Wild Cane Feel free, (it's free!) to follow me on the on the toilet called Instagram where I conversate and show my love for music as themagic_organ. Episode 129: Without Cheese

First off apologies for any band names or song titles that get mangled in this episode and in past episodes and well out into the future. Maybe folks don't listen to world music and from places with funny letters cuz the words is hard to pronounce? That would be ironical, cuz music is a nonverbal language (with words and shit sometimes) that humans use to communicate with each other. I love the second track SAME SHIT, I need to check the rest of the new Isaiah Rashad record, I'm excited about the new Stik Figa record so it's good to see some hip hop bangers coming out as the weather gets hotter. Otherwise, 13 minutes of quality -- world music, funk, ambient and a mash of indie and dancefloor from Frost Children that is a great idea but fell a bit wide of the bullseye. Hey be a guest DJ on this show, show me 6 songs it will be super fun, somebody out there gotta have flavor, no? It's all about flavor, being creative and showing flavor to each other. Excerpts from this episode: Fauna: Bland traden Isaiah Rashad: SAME SHIT Pilori: A Pierre Fendree Royce Wood Junior: Slush Hoavi: Wayang Frost Children: Bound2U Feel free, (it's free!) to follow me on the on the shameful status toilet called Instagram where I conversate and show my love for music as themagic_organ. Episode 128: Heating Up

Heating Up is Right! The first three tracks of this episode all on the candidate list of my nerd ass best of year tracking spreadsheet. Funky electronic, sick expertly arranged metal, and some world dancefloor banging, you can't beat that shit with a stick. Thus far we've seen a bump in flavorous electronic music, some good metal from that genre that keeps defying the rest of society, thank God for that. On the practical side I lost my hookup for African and world music; I used to get the weekly playlist from WRIR in Virginia but the DJ who rocked that show passed away. I wanted to give his work and legacy a shout, he put many banging records in my collection and if anybody knows of great sources of world music reviews and/or spinning hit me up! It is a woefully underrepresented genre in 'Merka and this injustice must be addressed. Excerpts from this episode: upsammy & Valentina Magaletti: Superimposed Bekor Qilish: Emptiness-Wrought Cognition Rosa Pistola: Flauta Nahua Slayyyter: Old Technology Charif Magarbane & Ali: Kuda Arab Star Moles: Real Magic Feel free, (it's free!) to follow me on the on the shameful status toilet called Instagram where I conversate as themagic_organ. Episode 127: Squeezing The Magic Organ

Man oh man, I'm busy af with real world activities. And even though I'm just one dude with a pitch shifter and exquisite taste I must squeeze in the Magic Organ, a lot depends on it jfc. As has been mentioned '25 was an insane year for great new music, it was everywhere, and while we can't know if Trump's fascism and/or shit economy is effecting the general culture-mood, there have been bangers thus far in '26 but not as many and in this episode I've had to draw a coupla tunes from the Magic Organ podcast bucket, which is a reserve of bangers that I can turn to when I'm a coupla tunes short of a full picnic basket. Whew, huge sentence. The short blast of metal from No/Mas is off a record on my potential best of '26 and the new Angine de Poitrine record could be an honorable mention, well just listen to see how I feel about the tunes presented here. The music is always changing but the quality remains high. Enjoy, it's a 7 banger. Thanks for listening and if you have friends maybe they'd peep the Magic Organ. Excerpts from this episode: Dialect: Eusa Angine de Poitrine: Sarniezz Fly Anakin: My N*gga No/Mas: Abolition Benoit Delbecq: The Loop of Chicago xaviersobased: I Don't Gotta Say It Sons of Huns Feel free, (it's free!) to follow me on the now convicted of harming young people Zuckerberg run Insta where I conversate as themagic_organ. Episode 126: Happy Late A** Spring!

Just because the formula never changes doesn't mean it's not exciting. I pick the freshest of the fresh, music with impact, value and heart, I try to get you to listen to the fresh shit when it's super fresh, hopefully folks get out there and mouth their friends about the fresh shit they heard first on The Magic Organ, boom that's how culture works. Speaking of which send me an email, tell me what you think, what you don't think, tell me about hits and misses, let's conversate and bring attention to music that deserves attention. A special shout out to the new Jill Scott record which is straight bangers from top to bottom, the playing is great, vocalizing, lyrics, dare I say instant classic, people must listen to it I insist. Episode 125: That's What Music is For

Hey, I don't do a ton of research before I rock an episode so I wanted to say the female singer featured as the fifth excerpt in this episode, Rima Khcheich, is Lebanese so yeah she's in the war zone. May the bombs stop dropping soon. It seems a bit weird to be spinning tracks during a shooting war, something even worse more widespread than the genocide in Gaza. But if some of the music here can be an outlet for what people are feeling and work its nonverbal magic on the human brain, well then that's what music is for. Thanks for listening and good luck to all the decent Vermonters fighting the goon squad ICE, stay safe out there. Excerpts from this episode: Musicentrydelete: Sub AM Sleaford Mods: Megaton Gorillaz: The God of Lying Sammy Brue: Promise To Keep Rima Khcheich: Muwashah Ya Man Itha Isobel Waller-Bridge: Tapes Feel free, (it's free!) to follow me on the Zuck run Insta (owned by the garbag-iest Americans going) where I conversate as themagic_organ. Episode 124: Somewhat Way Back Mix Taping

As I make a Herculean effort to gather my favorite records from my personal music collection all in one place (personal vinyl, out of print archived vinyl, net releases, cd favorites) to put onto a digital music player (DAP) I came upon a bunch of records that I was super into from 10-15 years ago and they all still hold up as great music. And I thought maybe listeners would enjoy The Magic Organ with less of me and more of other shit. I spliced in some tasty non sequitur bits from an school slideshow record and a vinyl record of children's songs from Spain. That's right -- random shit mixed with great music, that is what happens here. Voila, it's a fresh episode of the The Magic Organ. Great music has legs and sounds fresh as time passes so don't sleep on these bangers. Excerpts from this episode: Acid Arab: A3ssifa (feat. Rizan Said) A Tribe Called Red: Intertribal N. 1 Karol Conka: Gandaia Kenny Dennis: Punks Jeri-Jeri: Gawlo Feel free, (it's free!) to follow me on the Zuck run Insta (owned by the garbag-iest Americans going) where I conversate as themagic_organ. I got it friggin' goin' on over there, denouncing spectacle based American culture and serving up fresh bangers as I find them. I'm also up on the recently deballed Tik Tok, #FreePalestine. Or hit me up with 5 s***s on the itunes, 5 starry s***s on the itunes I dare not dream!!! Or you can email me to say how I changed your life with all this great music. Music can be social, you can have opinions. I'm always open to listener suggested playlists if you feel you can hang with the host. I'll even co host the show with you and I will be super nice. I guess most people can't hang, I wish it weren't thusly, but the roar of the mass are farts, unfortunately.
